IK Multimedia

IK Multimedia: software and hardware for guitar, recording and virtual instruments

IK Multimedia is a company founded in 1996 that designs and markets audio creation technologies. Its catalog spans interfaces, controllers, microphones, studio monitors, synthesizers and modeling and music production software. The company presents itself as an innovator in guitar, recording, instrument and audio creation technologies, with the goal of helping users achieve better sound.

Guitar: amp and effects modeling

In the guitar field, IK Multimedia pioneered amp and effects modeling with the original launch of AmpliTube in 2002. Since then it has developed tone-certified amp modeling collections, brought AmpliTube to iPhone and iPad through iRig interfaces and optimized guitar tone for computer recording with AXE I/O. Its most recent innovation in this area is AI Machine Modeling, a technology that allows users to create Tone Models of any amp, cabinet or combo and load them into TONEX Pedal or TONEX ONE for live use.

Studio recording and monitoring

In 1999, the company launched T-RackS, the first analog-modeled desktop mastering solution. Today T-RackS includes more than 60 plug-ins, among them Lurssen Mastering EQ and Master Match X. In 2007 it developed ARC System, the first room acoustic correction plug-in, to help producers mix audio that translates correctly on any system. ReSing brings voice modeling to desktop workflows, while iLoud studio monitors have become the monitoring solution for mixers and engineers seeking the best possible mix, whether on the move, for immersive audio or with a single pair of iLoud Precision.

Virtual instruments and synthesizers

Since the launch of SampleTank in 2001, the first virtual instrument workstation plug-in, IK Multimedia has developed technologies that blur the line between virtual instruments and their real-life counterparts. Its catalog includes Hammond B-3X, UNO Synth PRO X and MODO BASS, presented as the industry's first physically modeled bass. With Pianoverse, the company offers concert-grade pianos with realism achieved through robot-assisted sampling. The range is completed by iRig keyboard controllers.
