Grandstand Sports and Trophies

Grandstand Sports and Trophies, family-run sports shop in Dun Laoghaire

Grandstand Sports and Trophies is an independent, family-run sports retailer located in Dun Laoghaire, County Dublin. The business presents itself as a specialist in tennis and hockey, with a range of equipment and clothing for both sports, and completes its offering with items for other activities such as running, swimming, GAA, football, rugby and lawn bowls.

The team consists of five full-time and six part-time staff, according to the shop's own published information. The business emphasises that its approach is not that of a sports fashion retailer, but that of a sports equipment shop with expert advice.

Specialisation in tennis and hockey

Tennis and hockey are the two main pillars of the business. In tennis, the catalogue includes rackets, balls, footwear —with specific sections for women, men and junior—, clothing, bags, accessories and stringing. In hockey, the shop distinguishes between sticks and shoes for senior and junior categories, as well as clothing, bags, socks and other accessories.

The company opened a specialist tennis shop directly opposite its main store. That shop operates under its own identity under the name Tennis.ie, maintaining the same family ownership and the same team. The opening is presented as an expansion to concentrate the tennis offering and strengthen the main store's range for other sports.

Swimming, running and other sports

The swimming section brings together swimsuits from brands such as Funkita, Zoggs and Speedo, neoprene caps, swimming goggles for adults and juniors, and accessories. In running, the range covers clothing for women, men and juniors, footwear in the same categories, spikes and accessories.

The other sports section includes fitness, badminton, basketball, football —with boots, clothing, socks, balls and accessories—, GAA —hurling and Gaelic football—, lawn bowls, rugby —boots, clothing, balls and accessories—, table tennis and darts. There is also a general equipment category with bags, backpacks, kit bags, base layers, club kit, face masks, supports, training equipment, water bottles and winter accessories.

The catalogue also includes padel and pickleball, with rackets, paddles, balls, footwear, bags and accessories specific to both sports.

Trophies, engraving and seasonal campaigns

In addition to sports equipment, the company supplies trophies and provides engraving services to local clubs and schools. The shop also sells gift vouchers and runs a back-to-school campaign focused on backpacks, kits, bags and water bottles.

The website shows a catalogue with prices in euros and the option to switch to other currencies, and includes items from brands such as Adidas, Aqua Sphere, Babolat, Funkita, Nike, Osaka, Reece, Speedo and Zoggs, among others.

Local shopping and customer service

The company defines itself as a local Irish business and encourages shopping at local stores. For enquiries, it offers assistance by phone and email, and has an advice line for those who need help before buying.
