About Merrion Fertility Clinic
Merrion Fertility Clinic, a fertility clinic in Dublin
Merrion Fertility Clinic is a fertility clinic based in Dublin (Ireland) that offers diagnosis and treatment of infertility, as well as fertility preservation and gamete donation services. The clinic was originally founded by doctors from the National Maternity Hospital on Holles Street, Dublin, and maintains links with that centre: several of its doctors work there as consultant obstetricians and gynaecologists, sedation during egg collection is administered by a consultant anaesthetist from the hospital, and patients can receive continuity of care in a familiar environment thanks to the public fertility and pregnancy clinics that the doctors hold at that hospital.
Fertility tests and diagnosis
The diagnostic service includes ultrasound scanning, tubal patency check, hormone blood tests, semen analysis and other tests. The clinic also offers a first step package for those starting the process.
Assisted reproduction treatments
Available treatments include follicle tracking, ovulation induction, intrauterine insemination, in vitro fertilisation, frozen embryo transfer, intracytoplasmic sperm injection and surrogacy.
Male factor services
The clinic has a dedicated area for male fertility, with semen analysis, sperm freezing, advanced techniques and surgical sperm retrieval using microTESE.
Gamete donation and fertility preservation
In the field of donation, it offers donor sperm and reciprocal IVF, along with donor resources. Fertility preservation services include egg freezing, sperm freezing and embryo freezing, both before and after cancer treatment, with a specific project for childhood and adolescent cancer. The clinic also provides services for transgender people.
Genetics and carrier screening
Genetic services include carrier and embryo screening, carrier genetic screening and PGT-A, PGT-M and PGT-SR testing.
Results and quality standards
The clinic states that it reports clinical pregnancy rates per embryo transfer, rather than simply positive pregnancy rates, and that it publishes data from longer periods to show the robustness of its approach. According to the data it presents, its success rates are consistently above the European average; published examples include a clinical pregnancy rate of 74.3% in PGT for ages over 35 and up to 42, and 50.5% in frozen embryo transfer for the same age group, with cycles between 2022 and 2024. The clinic holds ESHRE accreditation as a training centre in reproductive medicine, ISO 9001 certification, CHKS accreditation and an HPRA licence in accordance with European tissue and cell regulations.
Team and research activity
The team is made up of doctors, nurses and embryologists. Clinical leadership is provided by David Crosby, CEO, Clinical Director and Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist; Renato Bauman is Medical Director and Consultant, and Cathy Allen, Fiona Martyn, Vanja Fenzl, Nita Adnan and Maebh Horan serve as Consultant Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Jennifer Cullinane is Laboratory Manager and Person Responsible, and Georgina Kearney is Director of Operations. The clinic has a satellite clinic in Galway and carries out research and training activities, with publications and annual reports, as well as its own foundation.
