Cap Karoso, beach and organic farm resort in Sumba
Cap Karoso is a resort located on Karoso beach, in the southwest of the island of Sumba (Indonesia). Accommodation: rooms and villas
The accommodation offering is divided into several categories. Among the rooms are Studio Terrace, Studio Garden and Beach Suite. The villas include Duplex Villa, Two-Bedroom Villa, Three-Bedroom Villa and Beachfront Villa. Design and local craftsmanship play a prominent role throughout, with a stated intention of connecting the stay with Sumba's heritage.
The organic farm and farm-to-table gastronomy
The heart of the project is its organic farm, which covers three hectares of rehabilitated land and produces nearly all the fruits and vegetables used in the restaurant and bar. Among the crops mentioned are cabbages, tomatoes and mangos. The gastronomic offering is presented as farm-to-table and includes chef residencies at Julang.
Agricultural training and guest experiences
The farm also serves as a center for sharing sustainable cultivation methods. Cap Karoso invites local farmers to learn about organic farming and permaculture. Guests can take part in agricultural experiences focused on composting and natural fertilizer production. In addition, the farm is home to artist residencies, craft workshops and nature activities of the kids' club.
Culture, art and heritage of Sumba
The resort offers an immersion in the culture and nature of Sumba. The island preserves the Marapu religion, which dates back to the Bronze Age and is still alive today. The resort's cultural programming spans art, design and craft, as well as experiences classified as The Wild, The Calm, The Indulgence and The Family. The Sumba Food Festival, its own podcast called Paneghe and a shamanic healing journey are also mentioned.
