About The Bombay Canteen

The Bombay Canteen: seasonal Indian cuisine in Mumbai

The Bombay Canteen is a Mumbai restaurant and bar presented as a project dedicated to showcasing the diversity of Indian cuisine without borders. The establishment describes itself as Indian at heart and explains that it was born from the desire to celebrate the country's culinary wealth. Its offering is built around seasonal menus that change frequently and the reinterpretation of long-standing Indian culinary traditions.

A kitchen that reimagines traditional recipes

The venue's kitchen combines what the company describes as fun, familiarity and innovation. The kitchen team reworks traditional recipes by incorporating seasonal ingredients and modern techniques, with the aim of bringing classic flavours closer to a wide audience. The menu travels through different regions of India and each dish is presented with a specific story, according to the restaurant's own description.

Cocktails with Indian roots and a book of their own

The cocktail programme follows the same logic as the kitchen: unique ingredients and distinctive flavour combinations. Each edition of the bar menu is designed around Bombay stories. The company has published five cocktail books; the fifth is titled 'Make Mine A Bombay' and captures the city through its drinks offering. The bar presents itself as a meeting place within the restaurant itself.

Ten years of history and celebrations

The restaurant has reached ten years in business, an anniversary that shapes much of its recent programming. Among the announced initiatives is a month of celebrations that includes an open day dedicated to the hospitality sector, with talks, professional meet-ups and hands-on workshops, and a cocktail party linked to the launch of the new book. The company has also scheduled Canteen cocktails at O Pedro, another venue, and collaborations such as the Kejriwal Babka, which brings together Veronica's baking with the Canteen's own Eggs Kejriwal, and the Ghee Roast Bhujiya snack, developed with Bombay Sweet Shop.

Menus, events and catering

In addition to its regular restaurant and bar offering, the site structures its activity around specific menus, events and initiatives, and catering services. The company maintains a contact section and an FAQ section aimed at those who want to work with it. In the history section, founders Yash Bhanage (founder and COO) and Sameer Seth (founder and CEO) each contribute notes in which they review the project's evolution and describe it as part of the city's fabric.

Opening hours and operations

The venue is open every day from 12:00 noon to 1:30 am. The website allows table bookings and offers a contact channel via WhatsApp.
