Matina Pefkos ApartHotel has grown near Pefkos’s main beach on Rhodes, from a small collection of studios into a property with pools, restaurants, and family spaces. Its history began in 1994 with one building containing ten studios and apartments. The 1999 expansion added four buildings, a pool, and a bar, giving the property its current name; two more buildings followed in 2000.

Its largest transformation began in winter 2008 and was ready for the following summer: new buildings, another pool, a children’s pool, Meltemi restaurant, People Snack Bar, and a supermarket. That development explains the range of services the complex now brings together. There are two pools and a children’s pool, a shaded play area, a five-a-side soccer field, guest laundry facilities, Wi-Fi, and a 24-hour front desk.

The accommodations differ in important ways. The studio for three combines single beds, a kitchenette, and a dining area in an open-plan space. One-bedroom apartments for four separate the bedroom from the living area; another option has two bathrooms. Two-bedroom apartments accommodate five or six: the five-person option is on the ground floor, while the six-person option is one level above the ground floor, with two furnished balconies.

The adapted studio, introduced in 2023, has step-free access, wide doorways, and a roll-in shower with grab bars and a seat. The Superior one-bedroom category accommodates up to five people. The Honeymoon Suite combines a four-poster bed, a whirlpool bathtub, a separate shower, and a living area with a kitchen. Deluxe rooms and one- or two-bedroom Deluxe suites broaden the choices; some options have private pools, a feature that does not apply to every room.

The winter 2025–2026 renovation deserves particular attention when comparing categories. Buildings 2 and 3 were completely renovated, with lower-level rooms gaining private swim-up pools. Those rooms changed from self-catering to bed-and-breakfast accommodations. Reception and Helios Lounge also exchanged locations, with both spaces refurbished. In spring 2026, Thea Rooftop gained a new bar area and improvements to lighting, shade, and weather protection.

Dining has several identities. Meltemi serves Greek and Mediterranean cooking; its rooftop dining area opened in May 2024. La Strada Ristorante, which opened on June 19 that year, adds Italian food and welcomes both hotel guests and outside visitors. People Snack Bar and Matina Family Pool Bar combine food, drinks, televised sports, and evening entertainment in a setting connected more closely to poolside life.

Helios Lounge serves breakfast for bed-and-breakfast and half-board bookings. The on-site supermarkets also offer grocery delivery, a convenience for guests choosing accommodations with kitchens. This combination of independence and organized services distinguishes an apartment stay from the newer breakfast-inclusive rooms, without assigning the same meal plan to the whole complex.

Celebrations have dedicated spaces: Thea Rooftop, above reception, was introduced in 2012; The Courtyard followed the next year, and the chapel of Agia Ekaterini and Agios Georgios opened in 2016. Weddings and vow renewals are part of this activity. Near Pefkos Beach, the complex allows days to unfold between the sea, the pools, and the table, with accommodation choices that changed in specific ways in 2026.
