About Parc de l’Orangerie
Parc de l’Orangerie offers a broad pause away from the busiest central streets. Its 26 hectares combine the geometric paths of a French-style garden with more natural-looking routes, an artificial lake with a waterfall and the Joséphine Pavilion, built in 1807 to house orange trees. The site has been protected as a historic monument since 1993. It is more than a photo backdrop: its lawns and three playgrounds make it useful for a family morning or a rest between visits.
The tourism office describes boat rides on the lake when the season and conditions allow, as well as a 2.2-kilometre loop used by runners. On October 1, 2026, Tripadvisor showed 4.4/5 from 2,317 reviews; recent visitors praised the greenery, waterfall, picnic areas and family atmosphere. Lake activities are seasonal and individual facilities may close, so check availability rather than assuming boats or food services will be operating.
Entry to the park is free. Tram E stops at Droits de l’Homme, followed by a walk; the European Parliament and Lieu d’Europe are nearby. This makes it easy to combine a stroll with a cultural visit, though the park is large enough to deserve time of its own. Bring water and comfortable shoes, and check city notices if you are looking for a particular playground, facility or activity.
