About Le Lieu d’Europe

Le Lieu d’Europe occupies a historic villa in a park in Strasbourg’s Robertsau district. Its permanent exhibition explains why the city is home to European institutions and how the integration project developed. Texts are available in French, English and German, and reception provides activity booklets for children aged four to twelve. Admission is free, although some events in the programme require booking.

A self-guided visit takes about an hour. Free guided tours in French run on Sundays, and tours of the European Quarter introduce the Council of Europe, the European Court of Human Rights and the European Parliament. It is a useful place to add context before or after visiting the institutions, but it does not replace the Parliament’s own security-controlled visitor route.

Take tram E to Boecklin Lieu d’Europe; buses L6, 15, 30 and 72 stop at Boecklin. The centre is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with holiday closures listed by the institution. The city’s practical page reported the lift out of service when checked in October 2026, so contact the centre before travelling if you need it.

In brief

Free permanent exhibition about Europe and its history; tram E, Boecklin Lieu d’Europe stop.
