Unitech & Chronotech

Technical inspections and emissions checks for light and heavy vehicles, plus tachograph and fleet-safety services.

About Unitech & Chronotech

In Dechy, technical inspection is a periodic task for private drivers and a compliance requirement for commercial fleets. Unitech & Chronotech brings together vehicle inspection centers and a specialized transport-equipment division, with locations in five Hauts-de-France communities: Dechy, Liévin, La Sentinelle, Libercourt, and Sin-le-Noble. The Dechy center handles Category L vehicles, while the broader network assigns inspections and services according to vehicle type and customer needs.

Unitech began in 2005, when CTPLV was formed and the Prouvy center was acquired. Libercourt followed in 2006 and Sin-le-Noble in 2007, with services later expanding to light vehicles and utility vehicles. Chronotech Services was established in 2016 and began technical operations the following year.

The network continued to grow with centers in Liévin and Dechy in 2020. The company reports a staff of 18 and more than 21,000 inspections a year across its light- and heavy-vehicle centers. Technical inspections cover light vehicles, utility vehicles, 4x4s, motorhomes, and classic vehicles, as well as heavy vehicles and trailers used to transport goods, passengers, or hazardous materials.

The website also includes Category L vehicles—motorcycles, three-wheelers, and motorized quadricycles—and gasoline, diesel, gas, hybrid, and electric powertrains. Depending on center and service, appointments can be booked for a technical inspection, emissions check, or follow-up inspection; Dechy specifically lists Category L vehicles. Chronotech Services handles specialized work for commercial transport: installation, inspection, and repair of analog and digital tachographs; initial calibration of digital tachographs; and downloading and secure archiving of driver and device data.

It also works with speed limiters, alcohol ignition interlock devices, geolocation units, and satellite OBU equipment. Its service list includes headlight adjustment and restoration, plus carbon-monoxide measurement in truck cabs with auxiliary heaters.

The network organizes appointments by center, service, date, vehicle type, and powertrain, and distinguishes services for individual drivers from its professional account area. Bringing inspection and installation together at one center can keep specialized work from being split among providers.

The company describes its centers as authorized and accredited and presents explanations of results as part of its service. Dechy is one of five regional locations; offerings vary by site, and individual pages list services and addresses.
