Adventure Base

Alpine experiences from Chamonix: Tour du Mont Blanc, guided and self-guided hikes, mountaineering, trail running, courses, and ski touring.

About Adventure Base

Adventure Base was founded in 2008 by Andy Eggleston and mountaineer Kenton Cool. Its operational team is based in Chamonix and organizes mountain experiences in the Alps, from multiday hikes to climbs and ski tours. The offering distinguishes guided and self-guided activities so that choosing a trip reflects both the scenery sought and the participant’s experience.

The Tour du Mont Blanc has a prominent place. The roughly 170-kilometer route passes through France, Italy, and Switzerland and is offered as a complete eleven-day self-guided itinerary and shorter variants. Highlights trips concentrate on sections of the trail for those with less time. The program adds guided departures and a Women Only format, creating different ways to explore the same massif.

Hiking extends to the Dolomites Alta Via 1, Walkers Haute Route, Grand Tour des Combins, Via Alpina in the Bernese Oberland, and Tour des Glaciers de la Vanoise. Tyrol and Bavarian Alps broadens the map to other Alpine areas. These are traverses with their own stages and durations rather than one circuit repeated in different destinations.

Mountaineering includes climbs of Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, Gran Paradiso, the Eiger, and Triglav, alongside the Monte Rosa Spaghetti Tour and Triple Crown of the Alps. Winter mountaineering and ice-climbing courses in Chamonix provide a learning strand. The company incorporates preparation and monitoring of weather and mountain conditions into organizing those experiences.

Ski touring includes the Haute Route between Chamonix and Zermatt in a six-day program, alongside routes in Ötztal, Silvretta, the Bernese Oberland, and Gran Paradiso. The introduction in Chamonix is intended for already capable off-piste skiers who want to learn to use touring equipment; it is not presented as a course for learning to ski from scratch.

Trail running adds self-guided and guided routes through several of those landscapes, including four- or six-day Tour du Mont Blanc formats. Adventure Base also arranges custom trips, corporate outings, and experiences linked to charitable causes. The variety allows travelers to distinguish hiking, running, climbing, and ski touring before choosing the length and support for each adventure.
