Al Moudira Hotel, a landmark stay on the west bank of Luxor

Al Moudira Hotel presents itself as an oasis on the west bank of the Nile in Luxor, close to the UNESCO World Heritage site of ancient Thebes and the Valley of the Kings. The property is described as a honeycomb of ten courtyards with the feel of a grand country house, built with materials rescued from vanishing historic buildings and surrounded by ten hectares of palm groves and exotic gardens.

The hotel was created several decades ago by Zeina Aboukheir and is run by a local team. The property is part of The Moudira Collection, a group of private villas and dahabiyas — traditional sailing boats — that includes seven villas on the grounds of the hotel itself in Luxor, two further villas in Luxor and Fayoum, and the Art Deco Immobilia Apartments in Downtown Cairo.

Accommodation: suites, villas and dahabiyas

The hotel has fifty-four suites arranged around a series of private courtyards with greenery and fountains. The offering is organised into different categories: Deluxe Suites, Junior Suites, Signature Suites, Luxury Suites, Fountain Suites and Family Suites, as well as villas. All suites, apartments and villas are described as very spacious, with high domed ceilings, hand-painted frescoes, large, airy bathrooms, antique furnishings collected by Zeina from around the Middle East, and king-size beds dressed with Egyptian cotton linen by Malaika Cairo.

The Moudira Collection also includes Beit el Nil, a twelve-suite villa set on its own private stretch of the Nile in Luxor with views of untouched riverbanks beyond, and Beit Fayoum, a fourteen-room villa in a historic house in the village of Tunis, in the Fayoum Oasis. The collection is completed by two dahabiyas, one inspired by the Art Deco era and one in contemporary style, offering cruises on the Nile. The collection is presented in collaboration with partner Egypt Beyond.

Guest services and experience

The hotel offers activities, cuisine, wellness and events, according to the structure of its website. It provides an airport transfer service with an approximate duration of thirty minutes and a free shuttle that makes two daily trips to Luxor and back. The property is six kilometres from the city centre, on the east bank, accessible by road across the bridge or via the ferries that operate at all hours.
