About Minga Lodge & Sanctuary

Minga Lodge & Sanctuary: eco-luxury and wellness in the Ecuadorian Amazon

Minga Lodge & Sanctuary is a luxury eco-lodge set on over 700 acres of Amazon rainforest in Ecuador. It presents itself as a space where longevity science meets ancient traditions to offer a transformative experience. The accommodation is designed for couples, families, solo travelers, and groups of any size, with customized itineraries that can include an extension to the Galápagos.

Accommodation and surroundings

The complex features luxury cabins, called The Sanctuary and Nest, designed for couples, families, and solo travelers. The Sanctuary cabins have a safe and can be locked. The lodge offers Wi-Fi throughout its facilities. Special rates apply for children under 16. Cabin capacity is 1 to 4 guests and 1 to 4 beds.

Wellness and longevity

The wellness offering includes hot and cold plunge pools, a Temazcal sweat lodge, a yoga pavilion, spa services, and a fitness center. The program combines modern biohacking with traditions such as Temazcal and cacao. The proposal has been highlighted by figures such as Dave Asprey, creator of the biohacking movement, and Céline Cousteau, documentary filmmaker and environmental advocate, who participate in content about the experience.

Gastronomy

The cuisine is led by a professional chef and is based on fresh, organic foods, with superfoods present daily, such as morning smoothies designed for brain, heart, and arterial health. Much of the ingredients come from the Minga Agricultural Learning Center, a 70-hectare farm across the Napo River, in what they call a "1-mile diet." The menu combines Amazonian specialties with Western dishes, gourmet coffee, and cocktails. Special dietary needs can be accommodated if notified before the trip.

Wildlife sanctuary and conservation

Minga is home to hundreds of species of monkeys, birds, butterflies, reptiles, and mammals. The Wildlife Sanctuary Rescue Center is dedicated to protecting, rescuing, and rehabilitating species such as capuchin monkeys, exotic birds, and sloths. Guests can visit the center or participate as volunteers. The organization also accepts donations to support the rehabilitation and rewilding of animals, strengthen the ecosystem, and combat illegal trafficking. In collaboration with MrBeast, a video about rescuing wildlife from illegal trafficking in the Amazon has been released.

Activities and experiences

The activity offering includes hikes and canoe rides through the rainforest canopy to observe wildlife and birds, excursions in open-air trucks to unexplored areas, chocolate making, honey tasting, and jewelry making. Authentic cultural experiences are also offered with local guides, artisans, farmers, chefs, and Indigenous knowledge keepers, allowing guests to cook, create crafts, and learn about Amazonian traditions. Itineraries are tailored to each guest's needs, mobility, and interests, and are suitable for couples, children, families, and groups.

Events and retreats

The lodge offers the possibility of organizing your own events and retreats, with a team of chefs, hosts, facilities staff, and customer service that ensures detailed execution. A retreat planning guide can be downloaded. It also has residency programs.

Other properties and destinations

Minga Lodge & Sanctuary is part of a group with other global properties: Kilifi Beach Villas and Bogani Camp, in Kenya. These offer immersive experiences for travelers who value exclusivity, sustainability, and authentic cultural interaction.

Weather and practical recommendations

The weather in the Amazon region is hot and humid, with an average temperature of 26 degrees Celsius. Traveling with light luggage is suggested to minimize the risk of damage or loss. The cabins have a safe, and the lodge has Wi-Fi in all areas.
