Fort Payne is the closest larger service and visitor reference; the DeSoto State Park address is in Fort Payne even though the park and waterfall landscape connects closely with Mentone. Little River Canyon’s NPS visitor center is also in Fort Payne. Chattanooga, Tennessee, is a regional city gateway northeast of the mountain; Huntsville is farther west. These are different approach directions, so choose based on the origin rather than combining them into one short local route.

DeSoto Falls is seven miles from the main park area, with its own access and per-vehicle parking charge. Little River Canyon’s rim road and individual overlooks require another drive; check the National Park Service map, current alerts and daylight hours. A visitor planning around a meal should also check the restaurants’ official schedules: Mountain Inn inside the park currently lists limited Friday-to-Sunday service, while Mentone cafés have separate days and hours.
