Årøsund Badehotel is a historic property in Årøsund, in the Southern Jutland region, about 50 meters from the water. The hotel occupies a yellow main building dating to 1903 and presents itself as a classic seaside retreat focused on nature, history, and food. After more than two years of inactivity, it reopened with Ivan Gotfredsen as its new tenant. Day-to-day management is handled by Margaret and Henrik Pontoppidan, who previously ran Galionen in Vejle.

The hotel offers guest rooms with breakfast. Stays are framed as a chance to unwind by the sea, whether for a weekend or a longer visit. Pets are welcome, and the hotel sells its own gift cards as well as Stays Gavekort cards.

Dining is central to the hotel. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner, combining French cuisine with a Scandinavian touch. About 80% of its ingredients are locally sourced, according to the hotel. The restaurant is open every day in two service periods: 11:30 a.m.–4 p.m. and 5:30–9 p.m. Guests can reserve a table or stop in to eat without staying overnight.

History and Team

The main building dates to 1903 and has been renovated. The hotel describes itself as a place with history and character and says opdagdanmark.dk recognized it as Southern Jutland’s best seaside hotel. Tenant Ivan Gotfredsen brings experience as a head chef and hotel owner at internationally recognized properties, including a Michelin-starred restaurant and a four-star hotel in France. Managers Margaret and Henrik Pontoppidan help create a relaxed, personal atmosphere.
