About Hotel Ještěd

Hotel Ještěd, Lodging and Dining at the Summit of Mount Ještěd

Hotel Ještěd occupies a distinctive building at the summit of Mount Ještěd, 1,012 meters (3,320 feet) above sea level. Designed by architect Karel Hubáček in the 1970s, the tower combines a television transmitter, restaurant, and hotel. Before construction was completed, the project received the prestigious Auguste Perret Prize (1969) from the International Union of Architects. The property is designated a national cultural monument of the Czech Republic and has been recognized as a “Building of the 20th Century.”

Guest Rooms with Views

The hotel presents its lodging as a singular experience: each room offers a view that, according to the company, cannot be found elsewhere. The stay is said to remain appealing even in fog, with activities such as a “space rocket” ride. The company says guests will not be disappointed by their choice of room.

Restaurant and Professional Kitchen

The restaurant opens daily at 11 a.m. During the day, guests can order from a daily menu of quickly prepared dishes; in the evening, as the daytime pace slows and the atmosphere changes, a dinner menu is offered, including options for guests seeking specialties. The hotel says there are other places to get refreshments at Ještěd. Its description emphasizes a professional kitchen prepared to serve even large numbers of tourists during the day.

Gift Vouchers

The hotel sells gift vouchers redeemable for lodging or dining services. After payment, buyers can choose from several designs and print a voucher right away. The company presents them as suitable for family gifts or business partners. Vouchers can also be extended.

Architecture and Recognition

The Ještěd project attracted considerable attention in the Czech Republic and abroad, both for its unusual shape and its technical solutions. Several entirely new technologies and materials were used during construction in the 1970s. The building is a Czech national cultural monument and has been named a “Building of the 20th Century.”

Mountain Conditions

The hotel notes that weather at the summit changes quickly and is often different from conditions in the city below. Its website lets visitors check current weather through a window in the building and access a webcam, except when the window is frozen.
