Cas Abao Beach is a white-sand beach with turquoise water located on the southwest coast of the island of Curaçao. It presents itself as a destination frequented by both tourists and locals, suitable for swimmers of all ages, with reefs that attract snorkelers and scuba divers. Access to the beach is via an unpaved road that the company itself describes as manageable for all cars, and parking is available.

Facilities and services at the beach

The site operates as a full-service beach. Confirmed facilities include secured parking, restrooms, showers, and lockers. The beach also features a beach bar, a restaurant, a massage palapa, and a dive shop. The showers are located next to the bar, and coins for their use are purchased at the bar itself for 1 guilder each.

Next to the bar there are shaded areas under trees with intertwined branches, as well as several palapas spread out along the beach. Visitors may bring their own cooler with food and drinks; for those who prefer not to, the beach bar offers snacks and drinks, and the restaurant serves lunch.

Entrance fees and beach chair rental

The site details the following entrance fees: Monday to Saturday, US$6 or 10 Netherlands Antillean guilders per car; Sundays and holidays, US$7 or 12.50 guilders per car. Each car allows a maximum of four people, and for each additional person, 2.50 guilders is charged. Beach chair rental costs US$3 or 5 guilders and includes a complimentary shower coin.

Beach rules

Entrance is only permitted between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Parking must be only in the official parking spaces. Spearfishing and hunting, pets, barbecues and campfires, as well as the use of jet skis, water scooters, or motorboats are prohibited. Garbage must be disposed of in the designated bins. The company states that visits are at the visitor's own risk and that it is not responsible for the loss, theft, or damage of belongings.

Marine life and dive sites

The waters in front of the beach are regularly home to stingrays and eagle rays, and on very special occasions manta rays. Dolphins also frequently appear, especially from November through February, and whales have been spotted. The beach is also a nesting area for different species of turtles, which come every year to lay their eggs.

For snorkeling, the site describes shallow waters and areas along the edge of the cliff. For diving, it identifies three distinctive sites: on the left, a stepped slope with its own distinctive coral formations at each level; in the middle, a large drop-off with a cliff wall covered in corals, sponges, and colorful fish that descends about 100 feet to a sandy bottom populated with garden eels; and on the right, a bottom that gradually slopes downward with coral formations such as large bright orange elephant ears and tall purple tubes.

Hours and contact

The beach is open daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The bar is open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Reservations and events are handled through a specific phone number.
