Araucana Lodge

Araucana Lodge, a boutique lodging for birdwatching in the Colombian Andes

Araucana Lodge is a ten-room boutique lodging located on a finca amid Andean forest, at 1,600 meters above sea level, on the western slope of the Colombian Andes. The property spans 30 acres (about 12 hectares) and includes a vegetable farm, orchards, walking paths, forest and gardens. It is located 40 minutes from Cali, in Valle del Cauca.

Birdwatching and natural surroundings

The lodge presents itself as an ideal place for birdwatching, leisurely strolls and meals made with products from its own organic farm. The finca is surrounded by a bamboo and palm grove, and its location in the Andean forest favors the presence of birdlife. The company organizes birdwatching experiences, both group and private, through its sister company Colombia Birdwatch.

Culinary experiences and tours

The catalog includes the so-called 'Culinary Journeys', intimate trips designed for those who want to experience Colombia through its landscapes, traditions and gastronomy. These experiences combine visits to coffee farms, local markets, garden harvests, cooking workshops and shared meals at the lodge itself. The next announced departure is May 9–15, 2027, and private tours are also offered.

Facilities and services

The property has ten rooms, common areas, a restaurant with farm products and interior trails. The offering is completed with birdwatching experiences and culinary journeys, and private tours can be booked through Colombia Birdwatch anywhere in Colombia.

Recognition and sustainability

The company presents itself as a reference for birdwatching in Colombia and notes that 'The Birders' show shares that assessment. The finca integrates an organic farm and orchards, and the page includes sections on sustainability and team.
