Mercato Dental Centre

Mercato Dental Centre: general, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry in East Vancouver

Mercato Dental Centre is a dental clinic located at the corner of Commercial Drive and First Avenue, in the heart of Little Italy, in East Vancouver. It welcomes new patients and has been operating in the area for nearly four decades. Its team combines general, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry, with emergency services and invisible orthodontics.

General dentistry services

The clinic covers the usual procedures to maintain oral health: check-ups, oral cancer screening, dental sealants, X-rays, root canals, and tooth extractions.

Cosmetic and restorative dentistry

In the cosmetic field, it offers dental crowns, whitening, veneers, Invisalign, dental bonding, implants, bridges, and fillings. The clinic highlights its same-day crown service, which allows broken or decayed teeth to be restored quickly. Restorative treatments aim to restore the appearance and function of teeth.

Dental emergencies

Mercato Dental Centre handles dental emergencies, a service the clinic presents as a response to unexpected issues that can arise at any time.

Technology and dental appliances

The team uses diagnostic imaging technology, including the iTero scanner and the CBCT scanner, which provide detailed images for diagnosis and treatment planning. The clinic also offers dental appliance services.

Professional team

The team consists of general dentists and auxiliary staff. Dr. Bayan Mottahed, DMD, graduated from Boston University in 2007 and is a member of the BC Dental Association (BCDA) and the Canadian Dental Association (CDA); he combines advanced technology with the experience passed down by his father and participates in initiatives to bring dental care to remote First Nations communities in British Columbia. Dr. Marina Chang, DDS, graduated from the University of Toronto in 2016, is a member of the BCDA and the CDA, and holds an entry-level Invisalign Fundamentals certification. Dr. Calvin Tang, DDS, graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry in 2018, is a member of the British Columbia Dental Association and the British Columbia College of Oral Health Professionals, and is a certified Invisalign provider. Dr. Andrew Gee, DDS, born and raised in East Vancouver, graduated with distinction in Pharmacology and earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of British Columbia, with an interest in surgical and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Ehsan Mohammadianamiri, general dentist, is listed on the team. Aman Basi, RDH, hygienist, has been part of the team since 2009 and has more than twenty years in the dental field, first as a CDA and later as a registered dental hygienist.

Accessibility and patient comfort

The clinic opens in the evening and on Saturdays to accommodate patients' schedules. It offers direct billing for most plans, eliminating the need to submit receipts. The location is accessible by SkyTrain, bus, or car; those who park in the ground-level Mercato Mall parking lot must register their vehicle at the front desk using a QR code to obtain free parking, without needing to purchase a ticket. The clinic is part of Canada's 123Dentist community.
