Downtown Dental Vancouver is a dental clinic located on Alberni Street, in the West End neighborhood, one block from Robson Street and near major downtown employers. The clinic treats patients of all ages and accepts new patients. Its team is made up of professionals with more than twenty years of practice in Vancouver, including Dr. Mario Esposito and Dr. Taheri, and many of the staff have been with the clinic for a long time.

Diagnostic technology

The center uses imaging tools to obtain a detailed view of teeth, gums, and jaw. The iTero scanner is used at every new-patient exam and at annual intervals for established patients, allowing comparison of how teeth shift and change over time. Panoramic X-rays help detect impacted teeth, fractures, tumors, infections, or bone abnormalities. The CBCT scanner generates detailed images of the mouth, face, and neck for diagnosis, treatment planning, and support during procedures.

Professional team

Dr. Mario Esposito, a general dentist, was born and raised in Vancouver. He graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1989 with a BSc in Biochemistry and in 1993 earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the same university's Faculty of Dentistry. He has practiced general dentistry in Vancouver since June 1993 and has taken numerous postgraduate courses in endodontics, cosmetic dentistry, laser dentistry, and particularly orthodontics. In recent years he has focused his continuing education on temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction and treatment, including laser therapy for headaches. He has been a member of the International Association for Orthodontics since 2002 and has completed Invisalign® Level I and II certifications, among other training in occlusion, orthodontics, and restorative dentistry. Dr. Matin Tohidi is also part of the team as a general dentist.

Care approach and specialist network

The clinic describes its philosophy as a conservative approach, focused on preserving natural teeth and achieving the patient's health and aesthetic goals. It aims to make appointments comfortable and as brief as possible, so that a cleaning or filling can be done, if necessary, during the lunch break. When the case requires it, the dentists may refer the patient to another provider for a second opinion and work with oral and maxillofacial surgeons, orthodontists, and other local specialists, with the option to manage those appointments.
