About Queen Street Dental Centre
Dental Clinic in Leslieville, Toronto
Queen Street Dental Centre is a dental clinic located at 930 Queen Street East, in the Leslieville neighbourhood in the east end of downtown Toronto. It welcomes new patients and offers general, family, cosmetic, implant, Invisalign® and periodontal dentistry. The clinic accepts the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) and has recently expanded and renovated its facilities.
General and Preventive Dental Services
The clinic performs routine examinations to detect cavities, gum disease and other oral conditions, such as oral cancer. Dental hygienists handle cleanings and provide advice on maintaining good oral health. Sealants are also applied, usually to the chewing surface of the back teeth (premolars and molars), as a barrier against decay-causing bacteria, and are especially recommended for children.
Restorative treatments include composite resin fillings, which bond and harden to a tooth-like texture. Crowns, also called caps, cover and protect damaged, cracked or broken teeth, and can be made of porcelain or a combination of porcelain and metal. The clinic makes same-day crowns using the Cerec system in its own lab, based on a digital impression and a 3D model. Root canals (endodontic treatment) are also performed when there is irreversible injury.
Cosmetic and Aesthetic Dentistry
The centre offers cosmetic dental treatments such as bonding, which uses composite resin to correct gaps, blend discoloured teeth or repair chips. Porcelain veneers, thin shells that are bonded to the teeth, cover chipped, misshapen or stained teeth. Teeth whitening can be done in the office or at home: the at-home method uses custom trays and a whitening gel that is worn for 2 to 6 hours a day over a two-week period. The clinic also offers Zoom! laser whitening and provides Botox treatment and TMJ/TMD treatment.
Implantology and Periodontics
Dental implants are an option for replacing missing teeth. They consist of a titanium post that is inserted into the jawbone and an artificial crown that is attached to the implant. When many teeth are missing, dentures can be anchored to the implants. The process is carried out over several visits with a dentist at the clinic and an in-house periodontist. The clinic also offers gum treatments, including gum grafting.
Orthodontics with Invisalign®
The clinic is an Invisalign® provider, a system of clear aligners for straightening teeth. Treatment begins with an oral exam and a 3D scan to determine whether the patient is a candidate. A personalized plan is then created along with a series of aligners that must be worn for two weeks each, 20 hours a day, removing them only to eat. According to the clinic, about 90% of patients are candidates for this treatment.
Technology and Patient Comfort
The clinic uses digital X-rays, which reduce radiation by up to 80% compared with conventional ones, provide instant results and allow images to be enlarged for more detail. It also uses a microscope in its procedures. For patients with anxiety, sedation options are offered: nitrous oxide (laughing gas), oral sedation and IV sedation, with staff certified in these techniques. The clinic has televisions in each treatment room and, for children, a tooth-shaped prize box at the end of the visit.
Other Treatments
The offering also includes dentures, retainers, extractions, snoring and sleep apnea solutions, and TMJ/TMD treatment. The clinic is located near the Queen streetcar stop and has parking in the area.
