Van Isle Containers: shipping container rentals, sales, and modifications on Vancouver Island

Van Isle Containers is a portable storage company based in Saanichton, British Columbia, serving all of Vancouver Island. Its business combines the rental and sale of new and used shipping containers with custom modifications, aimed at meeting home, commercial, and industrial storage needs.

The company presents itself as a Canadian-owned and operated local business, active on Vancouver Island since 1980. According to its corporate story, it began with a small number of rental containers and has grown to serve a broad customer base, maintaining a personal touch in every transaction.

Containers for rent and sale

The company's catalog includes shipping containers in various sizes and configurations, available for both rental and purchase. Featured options include:

• 12' insulated container, designed to protect belongings in compact spaces such as residential driveways or commercial properties.
• 16' insulated container, with greater storage capacity and enhanced insulation to protect contents from extreme temperatures year-round.
• 10' container, aimed at smaller storage needs or projects where available space is limited.
• 20' container, with ample capacity for moves and personal or business storage.

The company states that all its containers are certified and carefully inspected to ensure they are wind and watertight.

Applications: moving, construction, and storage

Van Isle Containers describes three main uses for its containers. In the business and commercial sector, it supplies units for construction sites and corporate offices, so that tools, materials, and equipment remain secure on-site. For home renovations and storage, it offers containers delivered directly to the home for as long as the customer needs them. For moving, the company brings the container to the point of origin and, when the customer is ready, takes it to the new location.

Custom modifications and the MULE delivery system

In addition to rental and sales, the company performs custom container modifications to suit specific needs of homes and businesses. For difficult access, it has a specialized delivery system called MULE, which allows portable storage containers to be placed in locations traditional trucks cannot reach, such as tight driveways or narrow alleys.

Customers and projects

Van Isle Containers' customer base includes government agencies, school boards, municipalities, large and small businesses, the construction sector, and individuals. The company has supplied containers for events such as Victoria's Folk Fest, the Victoria Shakespeare Summer Festival, the Victoria 'Navy Days' demonstrations, the 2008 North American Indigenous Games, and was the exclusive container supplier for the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria.
