Dr. Dat Duong and the team

The clinic is led by Dr. Dat Duong, who grew up in Edmonton and graduated from the University of Alberta, first with a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacology in 1998 and then from the Doctor of Dental Surgery program in 2002. That same year he began practising dentistry in Edmonton and its surrounding area. In the summer of 2009 he opened Dental Zen in northwest Edmonton, where he continues to serve the community.

Dr. Duong continually expands his training with hundreds of hours of continuing education and specialises in natural-looking cosmetic restorations. In addition to offering Invisalign as an alternative to metal orthodontics, he maintains a practice focused on prevention and conservative restoration. The team is multicultural and multilingual: the doctor himself speaks English, Vietnamese and Cantonese, and among the staff there are professionals who speak Vietnamese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Arabic and Tagalog, among other languages.

Technology and way of working

Dental Zen defines itself as a state-of-the-art clinic that uses digital radiography, intraoral cameras and the iTero scanner to improve the precision and comfort of treatments, along with strict infection control protocols. The clinic works with comprehensive treatment planning and states that it relies on evidence-based dentistry to achieve lasting results. It also indicates that it encourages communication with the patient and adapts each treatment to individual needs.

Patients and CDCP coverage

The centre serves families, adults and children, and states that new patients are welcome. Dental Zen accepts the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) and notes that its team guides patients through the process so they can take advantage of their benefits.
