Fluff 'n' Furious: Mobile Canine Gym in Calgary

Fluff 'n' Furious is a mobile dog gym based in Calgary, Alberta. The company presents itself as a licensed and insured service that brings exercise equipment to the client's home, eliminating the need to travel to dog parks or fixed facilities. The project was born from the personal experience of its founders, Stephanie and Chris, who witnessed the benefits of treadmill running in the rehabilitation of one of their dogs after knee surgery. Unable to find dog-specific equipment in Alberta or Canada, they decided to create their own mobile service.

Tailored Exercise Sessions

Sessions last approximately 20 to 30 minutes and aim for a balance between cardiovascular activity, muscle strengthening, and mental focus. The company states that training is adapted to each dog's needs, with confidence-building and challenging exercises. The service is provided in a climate-controlled fitness unit, allowing training regardless of weather conditions.

Equipment and Methodology

Fluff 'n' Furious uses treadmills designed specifically for dogs, in collaboration with manufacturer FirePaw EU. These treadmills, called SlatMills, simulate the animal's natural movement and allow it to run at its own pace, reducing the risk of injury. The company emphasizes that human treadmills are not suitable for dogs because the platform length does not match their stride and the suspension system is designed for bipedal users, which can harm their joints.

Benefits Attributed to the Service

According to published information, mobile gym sessions can help improve dogs' physical and mental health. Mentioned effects include increased confidence, strength, and endurance; reduced anxiety or aggression and improved focus; help with weight loss or weight control; building confidence in fearful or shy dogs; and relaxation of restless dogs, which can also mean more rest time for their owners.

Founders' Profile

Stephanie, one of the owners, is a certified dog hygienist and groomer, and has been running "The Grooming Bear" for over six years. The company highlights her experience in dog care and her commitment to animal welfare. Chris completes the founding team. Both conceived the project to offer an alternative to owners who lack the time, space, or resources to purchase a treadmill for their dogs.

Service and Coverage

The service is described as convenient and mobile: the team travels to the client's home with the climate-controlled unit. The company serves Calgary and surrounding areas, although no further coverage areas are detailed. Appointments are arranged by phone or email.
