Mega Dental Group: general and cosmetic dentistry at Metropolis at Metrotown

Mega Dental Group is a full-service dental clinic located in the Metropolis at Metrotown shopping centre in Burnaby, British Columbia. Its recently renovated office is on the lower level of the mall, near Central Boulevard and T&T Supermarket, with parking available on level P2 from the Central Blvd entrance. It opened in 2008 and is accepting new patients.

Dental services

The clinic covers a wide range of treatments. General services include hygiene and regular check-ups, restorative and corrective dentistry, mercury-free fillings, endodontics (root canal treatment), crowns, bridges, conventional dentures and implant-supported dentures, extractions — including wisdom teeth — gum surgery, periodontics, laser dentistry and oral surgery procedures such as crown lengthening and open flap debridement. Cosmetic services include teeth whitening, veneers, crowns and bridges, as well as orthodontic treatments with functional appliances, metal braces and Invisalign.

Implants, Invisalign and orthodontics

The clinic performs dental implants and full-mouth reconstructions with veneers, crowns, bridges and implant-supported dentures. In orthodontics, it provides treatment with conventional braces and Invisalign clear aligners to correct crowding, spacing, dental alignment and overbite problems. Dr. Suzanne Ting is a preferred Invisalign provider and has experience with this technique since 2004.

Professional team

The team consists of several general dentists. Dr. Wise Tang graduated with honours from the Doctor of Dental Surgery program at the University of Toronto in 1999, completed a one-year residency at the University of Michigan and has been practising general dentistry in the Lower Mainland region for more than twenty years; she has taken numerous postgraduate courses in oral surgery, endodontics, cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics, including Invisalign. Dr. Suzanne Ting earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Alberta in 2000, after completing a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at the University of British Columbia, and also trained at the Las Vegas Institute and the Renaissance Dental & Implant Institute; she practises the full spectrum of general dentistry with a special focus on cosmetic and comprehensive restorative dentistry. Dr. Henry Chang graduated from the University of Alberta in 2006 and completed a year in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at Boston University in Massachusetts; he is proficient in diagnosis and multidisciplinary care, and performs restorations, full-mouth reconstructions, endodontics, periodontics, laser dentistry and oral surgery, as well as orthodontics with braces and Invisalign. Dr. Derek Chow earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of British Columbia and his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Sydney in 2023; his practice focuses on restorative dentistry, endodontics and prevention.

Patient care and accessibility

The clinic is open seven days a week throughout the year, with extended hours, and offers free parking. Most health insurance claims can be processed directly in the office. The team speaks English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Korean and Foochow, which facilitates communication with patients from different backgrounds. The clinic presents itself as a member of 123Dentist – Community Dentist Network and provides information about the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), with options to apply for or renew coverage and to book an appointment if already covered.
