Barú NV is a Belgian company based in Hasselt that makes powdered drinks to prepare at home and chocolate-covered marshmallows. Its catalogue is organised around two product families: latte-style drinks and marshmallow sweets, with a specific line for hospitality and businesses.

Drinks: chai, matcha, pumpkin spice and hot chocolate

The drinks range includes spiced chai latte, matcha latte, pumpkin spice latte, hot chocolate, hojicha and ube latte, as well as a premium line called Barista. The company has expanded this line with new varieties, including ube, hojicha, vanilla matcha and dirty chai latte. Formats include 250-gram bags and 20-gram single sachets, and the catalogue also offers recipes for preparing these drinks.

Marshmallows and chocolate sweets

In the sweets section, Barú sells chocolate-covered marshmallows, such as the 30-gram dark chocolate bar with caramel and sea salt and the 120-gram milk chocolate marshmallows with caramel and sea salt. The company states that its marshmallow bar was the first of its kind when it was launched.

Origin, team and production approach

The project began as an initiative by Gunther and Maarten and is run from a small studio in Hasselt. The company states that it works with local and socially inclusive suppliers, maintains short supply chains and takes care with the packaging of its products.

Shipping and purchase conditions

The online shop states free shipping from €50 in Belgium and the Netherlands, with delivery in one to two working days for orders placed before 20:00 in those same countries. It also offers free personalised cards. The prices shown in the catalogue include VAT and shipping costs are calculated during the checkout process.
