TIAN Bistro am Spittelberg
Seasonal vegetable cooking in Spittelberg, with a sharing menu and a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand.
About TIAN Bistro am Spittelberg
Spittelberg brings together narrow streets, Biedermeier façades and courtyards between MuseumsQuartier and Neubau's shopping streets. On Schrankgasse, TIAN Bistro occupies one of those courtyards, with a clean-lined interior and a covered dining space away from the livelier terraces. It is a neighbourhood address associated with TIAN's vegetable-led cooking, but its menu and recognition belong specifically to this bistro.
The current menu arrives at the centre of the table for sharing. The version consulted included vegetable tartare, gazpacho scented with signet marigold, white-bean cream with figs and mild chillies, braised tomato with raspberry vinegar, and roasted lion's mane with chanterelles, horseradish and pumpkin-seed oil. Chocolate, miso and strawberry closed the sequence. That progression describes the kitchen better than the word vegetarian alone: seasonal produce shaped by acidity, savoury depth and contrasting textures.
On September 23 the menu cost EUR 59 per person plus EUR 3.50 cover, for at least two diners; drinks and optional additions were not listed as included. It is not Neubau's least expensive meal, yet the MICHELIN Bib Gourmand and the transparent price of a complete menu make it worthwhile for a more elaborate vegetable dinner without the bill of a fine-dining tasting room. The restaurant notes that this menu cannot accommodate mushroom, onion or celery intolerances.
