About Longitude 131°
Longitude 131°, luxury camp facing Uluru
Longitude 131° is a luxury camp located in Australia's Red Centre, with direct views of Uluru and, across the desert, Kata Tjuta. It presents itself as the country's most celebrated luxury camp and is part of the Beckons group, along with other properties in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and Chile.
The accommodation consists of sixteen tented pavilions spread among the red dunes of the central desert. Fifteen of them face Uluru, with views from the bed itself, and the Dune Pavilion, the premium option, is the only one with views of both World Heritage-listed sites: Uluru and Kata Tjuta.
Architecture, design, and interiors
The camp combines the outback landscape with a refined interior. Its spaces display Aboriginal artworks and relics from the region's explorers. It has a bar and a restaurant serving contemporary Australian cuisine, and its team presents itself as ready to share stories with guests.
Experiences and Red Centre safari
The experience offering includes guided outings by the lodge's own naturalists to discover the natural and cultural heritage of Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta (The Olgas). The site distinguishes between signature, bespoke, and private experiences, as well as other activities and sample itineraries. Stays with artists from Ernabella Arts are also organized; in 2026 they will be in residence for several days in February, April, June, August, and November to work in the Dune House, set up as a studio with views of Uluru.
Dining
The culinary offering brings together produce from different regions of Australia and is served with views of Uluru. The menu mentions Cape Grim beef (Tasmania), Humpty Doo barramundi, and seafood from the waters of South Australia. The site also describes dinners under the stars and drinking spots.
Spa Kinara
The camp's spa, Spa Kinara, works with Aboriginal massage techniques and local natural ingredients such as irmnagka-irmangka. The name kinara means 'moon' and links the earth to the sky.
Packages and inclusions
Longitude 131° offers packages with generous inclusions and extended stays. These include Signature Longitude, for four nights or more with premium extras; Classic Longitude, three nights with additional extras; Beckons Escape, a shorter stay; and Shadow Over the Dunes, to observe a rare phenomenon above Uluru. The site also publishes the house policies.
Awards and refurbishment closure
The property has accumulated distinctions from media and guides: Tatler Best Hotels Asia-Pacific 2025, Fodor's Finest 2026 among the top five hotels in Australia and the Pacific, Australia's Leading Lodge in 2024, The 50 Greatest Luxury Hotel Suites in 2024, Travel Awards for best tented camp and Travelers' Choice Awards, as well as its inclusion in La Liste's World's Best Hotels 2026 and two Michelin Keys that same year. The site also notes its presence in lists by Condé Nast Traveler, Robb Report, AFAR, Wallpaper, and Signature Luxury Travel, among other publications.
The site itself announces that Longitude 131° will be closed from 25 January to 19 April 2027 for a soft refurbishment.
