South Nowra Veterinary Hospital is a purpose-built veterinary clinic established in 1994. It cares for pets and their owners in the Shoalhaven and Jervis Bay regions of New South Wales. The centre holds Gold accreditation from the International Society of Feline Medicine as a calm cat clinic, which means a low-stress handling approach for cats.

The veterinary team combines interests and experience in medicine, surgery and animal behaviour, and offers clients education, advice and treatment options. The clinic treats cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice, reptiles and birds.

Preventive medicine and general care services

The service range includes general care, health checks, nurse consults, internal and external parasite control, vaccination, microchipping and flea control. It also offers specific programmes for puppies and kittens, puppy school and advice on feeding and diet, including prescription food.

For older animals, the clinic offers check-ups and monitoring tailored to age-related needs, as well as weight management consultations.

Surgery, diagnostics and specialised treatments

The centre performs desexing, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedic surgery and veterinary dentistry treatments, including dental care. In diagnostics, it carries out in-house blood tests, ultrasounds, X-rays and imaging. It also treats pet cancer cases and offers referrals to specialist vets.

Wellbeing, behaviour and complementary services

The clinic includes behaviour consultations, effective flea control and remote veterinary advice services via VetChat. It also has an emergency service and the Best for Pet programme.

Professional team

The team is led by Dr Daniel Lawson, veterinarian and hospital director, who trained at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga. Dr Genevieve Franke serves as an occasional locum veterinarian and studied at the University of Queensland. The nursing team comprises Demi, with experience since 2009 at various clinics; Lilli, a team member since 2018; Jess, a veterinary nurse since 2008, and Hayley, a trainee veterinary nurse who joined in 2021.
