About Ryde Natural Health Clinic
Ryde Natural Health Clinic: multidisciplinary care in North Ryde
Ryde Natural Health Clinic is a healthcare centre located in North Ryde that integrates several therapeutic disciplines within a single team. Its approach is based on the idea that many bodily pains are symptoms of a dysfunctional musculoskeletal system, and that by correcting these dysfunctions many everyday aches and pains disappear. The team brings together physiotherapists, chiropractors, osteopaths, remedial massage therapists, practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine — acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine —, nutritionists and naturopaths, and clinical Pilates instructors.
Disciplines and therapeutic approaches
The clinic offers osteopathy, chiropractic, physiotherapy, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, remedial massage and clinical Pilates. Each profession applies its own method, although the shared goal is for the patient to regain pain-free mobility.
Osteopathy
Osteopaths frequently treat neck, back or joint pain, as well as sports injuries. Their approach combines hands-on techniques, exercises and lifestyle advice to restore normal function to joints, nerves, muscles and soft tissues.
Chiropractic
Chiropractors identify and treat mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, particularly of the spine and pelvis. Treatment aims to correct muscle imbalances, reduce joint stiffness and improve range of motion through gentle adjustments, without resorting to drugs or surgery.
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy assesses, diagnoses, treats and prevents illness and disability through physical means. Physiotherapists work alongside the patient to overcome movement disorders, whether congenital, acquired through accident or injury, or resulting from ageing. They also help prevent further injuries and set treatment goals and outcomes.
Acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine
Traditional Chinese medicine developed in China with a history and approach distinct from Western medicine. Instead of treating the disease or its symptoms, the practitioner addresses patterns of disharmony or clusters of symptoms. Acupuncture and herbs form an integral part of this practice and can help manage symptoms such as pain, nausea, stress and fatigue.
Remedial massage
Remedial massage combines gentle and firm techniques to release tense muscles and relieve discomfort. The clinic describes variants such as relaxation massage with candles and essential oils, sports massage aimed at preventing or relieving injuries and muscle soreness, and pregnancy massage, with specially adapted tables to lie face-down safely. When massage forms part of a plan set by another practitioner, the therapist coordinates with them to achieve the therapeutic goals.
Clinical Pilates
The clinic's Pilates studio specialises in equipment-based, small-group Clinical Pilates classes. It only employs degree-qualified instructors — physiotherapists — with extensive experience, and each session is tailored to the student's needs and goals. Group classes and private sessions are offered.
Practitioners at the centre
The team includes osteopath Evan Marnezos, chiropractor Johanna McFadgen, traditional Chinese medicine practitioner Julia Oh, osteopath Kris Sanford, chiropractor Angelo Marketos, traditional Chinese medicine practitioner Kuo Jen (Hank) Chen, remedial massage therapist Tom Clarke, traditional Chinese medicine practitioner Anthony Keating, remedial massage therapist Mustafa Yildirim, osteopath Kuan Ng and remedial massage therapist Menelik (Ben) Haylemariam.
