About Ten Minutes by Tractor

Ten Minutes by Tractor: wine and dining in Main Ridge

Ten Minutes by Tractor is a winery and restaurant established in Main Ridge, on the Mornington Peninsula (Victoria, Australia). Its history dates back to the early 1990s, when three vineyards were planted in Main Ridge, each ten minutes by tractor apart, the origin of the estate's name. Since then, Martin and Karen have added new vineyards, each with its own unique character.

Vineyards and winemaking

The company works with vineyards on the Mornington Peninsula, described by the winery itself as cool and beautiful places, whose profile is defined by the wines they produce. The range includes references such as 10X Pinot Noir 2025, Estate Chardonnay 2024, Coolart Road Pinot Noir 2024 and Trahere Pinot Noir 2023, according to the new release catalogue shown on the site.

Restaurant

The restaurant opened in 2006 and shares the winery's philosophy: connection to place, respect for the seasons and harmony between food and wine. The offering is structured around multi-course menus — Essence, Substance and Signature — with no à la carte option. The estate states that all diners at a table must choose the same menu and that there is no separate children's menu, although families are welcome. As a guide to duration, Essence takes approximately 1.5 hours; Substance, between 2 and 2.5 hours; and Signature, between 3 and 3.5 hours. Wine pairings are not included in the menu price.

Cellar Door

The cellar door offers a relaxed and intimate tasting experience, focused on wines that express the qualities and character of the Mornington Peninsula vineyards, with elegance, complexity, balance and length. It also serves as an informal dining space, with seasonal small plates and dishes to share — local olives, cheeses and charcuterie, terrines, baked camembert, soups and options designed to accompany a glass or a bottle. The space can be reserved for intimate events and private gatherings. The tasting of the current 10X and Estate range costs $15 per person, which is deducted with each person's purchase; Wine Club members do not pay that fee. Booking is recommended for groups of six or more, although walk-ins are accepted.

Wine Club and private events

The Wine Club offers exclusive allocations, priority access and a deeper insight into the estate's wines. The company also manages private events and celebrations, with specific forms for enquiries about events, weddings, restaurant bookings, cellar door and tastings, wine purchases and general enquiries.

Shipping and orders

Wine orders placed online arrive, according to the shop's information, within an average of 4 to 10 business days, via Australia Post's wine delivery service and with tracking if the customer authorises it by email. For urgent shipments, the winery offers the possibility of arranging express shipping or courier through its cellar door. It also ships internationally with Get Freighted; the cost varies by country and additional costs for insurance, duties or taxes may apply on arrival.

Hours and operations

The cellar door is open daily from 11:00 to 17:00. The restaurant serves lunch from Wednesday to Sunday, from 12:00 to 14:30, and dinner on Friday and Saturday from 18:00. On public holidays, the cellar door remains open except Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day and Good Friday. The restaurant is closed on New Year's Day, Good Friday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, and open on Australia Day, Labour Day, Easter Saturday (lunch and dinner), Easter Sunday and Monday (lunch), ANZAC Day, King's Birthday, the Friday before the AFL Grand Final, Melbourne Cup Day, Christmas Eve (lunch) and New Year's Eve (lunch). In summer, special hours apply between 21 December and 31 January, with variations in opening days for lunch and dinner.

Acknowledgement of Country

The company acknowledges the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which it lives and works, and pays respect to their Elders past and present.
