TheDream.US National Scholarship: beca para jóvenes inmigrantes que van a la universidad

La próxima ronda abre el 1 de noviembre de 2026; la guía distingue los requisitos del ciclo anterior y qué debe confirmarse para 2027–28.

TheDream.US National Scholarship is a private scholarship for certain first-generation immigrant students who are undocumented, including students with DACA or TPS, and have significant unmet financial need. It is not federal aid and is not open to every immigrant student. The organization says the next application round opens November 1, 2026, but the public National page still presents several criteria under its 2026–27 cycle. The program profile explains what is established now and what a student must recheck when the new form appears.

The current page lists awards of up to US$33,000 toward tuition and fees for a bachelor’s degree, plus a separate stipend of up to US$6,000 for books, supplies, and transportation. An associate-degree award is also available through the National program, but the organization’s live pages do not present every next-cycle amount and renewal rule in one place. Treat the published figures as maximums, not cash paid directly to the student: payments go toward approved Partner College costs, and the amount depends on enrollment, cost, and the terms of the award.

For the last published 2026–27 criteria, applicants had to be first-generation immigrant students currently undocumented with or without DACA or TPS, have entered the United States before age 16 and before November 1, 2020, and have lived here continuously since then. The page also asks for significant unmet need, a high-school GPA of at least 2.5, and a college GPA of at least 2.5 if the applicant already earned post-high-school credits. It says applicants eligible for Pell are not eligible for the National Scholarship. These are prior-round criteria; do not assume the arrival cutoff or other rules will remain unchanged for 2027–28.

The National route generally serves students who can receive in-state tuition at a participating public college, with exceptions for some private and online colleges and specific Texas Partner Colleges. You must apply separately to the scholarship and to a Partner College, and admission to the college is not guaranteed by a scholarship application. Before applying, check whether a participating school is actually in your state, whether it offers your major, how you would travel or relocate, and whether you meet its tuition-residency rules. The organization warns that eligibility depends on where the student lives.

For the next round, monitor the official National Scholarship page after November 1 and wait for its cycle-specific application guide before relying on a deadline, cutoff date, or award amount. Prepare a high-school transcript, any college transcript, an account of community work and responsibilities, and records that document financial need and immigration eligibility. Ask the Partner College’s admissions and financial-aid offices about admission and state tuition rules before choosing it. TheDream.US lists 1-855-376-7076 for National Scholarship questions; apply only through the organization’s official site and never pay an application fee to a third party.
