Sin embargo, esta majestuosidad de la naturaleza ha sido desde entonces atacada por el sobredesarrollo y las prácticas insostenibles. Es por eso que los gobiernos ecuatoriano y peruano iniciaron el proyecto de cuatro años titulado “Multiplicar los beneficios ambientales y de carbono en los ecosistemas altoandinos”.

El proyecto busca compensar los efectos de la deforestación generalizada en la zona. Más importante aún, tiene como objetivo participar en la conservación y mejora de las reservas de carbono y la biodiversidad en los Andes. Se centra principalmente en Carchi, Pichincha y Tungurahua (Ecuador), así como en los estados de Piura y Huancavelica (Perú).

Los esfuerzos para poner en marcha este proyecto comenzaron ya en 2014, cuando el Fondo para el Medio Ambiente Mundial comenzó a canalizar fondos para lograrlo. Como una de las principales financiadoras ambientales del mundo, la institución ciertamente tenía la voluntad y los medios para iniciar el proyecto, ya que proporcionó US $ 4.796.364 en fondos.

Además, los dos gobiernos socios se reunieron con los financiadores a mitad de camino y recaudaron su propio efectivo en contrapartida, alcanzando un estimado de $ 16.2 millones. Perú y Ecuador Trabajando Juntos por el Medio Ambiente La Cordillera de los Andes abarca las fronteras de varios países de la región de América Latina. Esto incluye tanto a Perú como a Ecuador, estos dos países se han reunido bajo un proyecto de la ONU diseñado para promover la protección de los Andes.

Los Andes son el hogar de una serie de diferentes ecosistemas. Todos ellos son tan diversos y complejos como vienen. Sin embargo, a pesar de las fronteras que los separan, muchos de estos ecosistemas han sido atacados por la misma amenaza: las peligrosas prácticas sociales de las personas. En particular, muchos de estos ecosistemas andinos están amenazados por la sobreexplotación de los recursos naturales, la deforestación, las industrias extractivas, las prácticas agrícolas insostenibles y las prácticas de ordenación de los pastizales. Aparte de eso, los incendios forestales y la erosión también influyen en la situación.

Frente a estos desafíos, los gobiernos de Perú y Ecuador han decidido trabajar juntos para encontrar formas de abordar los problemas existentes. Esto eventualmente llevó a un acuerdo de conservación ambiental entre los dos estados.

Esto solo muestra que incluso un problema tan grande como la Cordillera de los Andes puede ser resuelto por personas que trabajan juntas. 300 voluntarios participarán en campaña de limpieza PERÚ LIMPIO durante el partido Perú vs. Bolivia Lima, 28 de agosto de 2017.- El Ministerio del Ambiente (MINAM) llevará a cabo el próximo 31 de agosto, durante el partido Perú vs. Bolivia, en coordinación con la Federación Peruana de Fútbol (FPF), la campaña de limpieza PERÚ LIMPIO, que busca generar conciencia en las personas que asistan al Estadio Monumental sobre el adecuado manejo de los residuos que generan.

La jornada se iniciará a las 14:00 p.m. del día jueves 31 de agosto, contando con la participación de 300 voluntarios, de los cuales 200 son jóvenes 7oluntarios del Ministerio del Ambiente y 100 efectivos del Ejército del Perú, quienes se de splegarán en la Av. Javier Prado (La Molina), la Av. Huarochirí (Ate Vitarte) y el óvalo Huarochirí, para informar y orientar a los asistentes al partido que no deben botar sus residuos en las calles sino depositarlos en los tachos o contenedores para basura.

La ministra del Ambiente, Elsa Galarza, detalló que se colocarán 30 contenedores para basura en los exteriores del Estadio Monumental, y 20 tachos en el interior, a fin de cubrir de manera estratégica la mayor zona posible, dado que 65,000 personas asistirán al encuentro entre Perú y Bolivia, estimándose que cada uno genere alrededor de 400 gramos de residuos por el consumo de productos que realicen.

“Estimamos que en aproximadamente 10 horas, desde que comienzan a llegar las personas al Estadio, se generarán alrededor de 26 toneladas de residuos, por eso es importante que todos tomemos conciencia y colaboremos, porque fuera de la cancha también jugamos todos un partido y debemos ponernos la camiseta de Perú Limpio, porque este partido se gana no botando basura en las calles”, dijo.

La ministra Galarza agradeció el apoyo y compromiso de la Federación Peruana de Fútbol, que se sumó a la campaña Perú Limpio facilitando que esta iniciativa ambiental se promueva durante este encuentro deportivo.

En este sentido, Edwin Oviedo, Presidente de la FPF manifestó que “esta campaña es un ejemplo positivo de como a través del fútbol se puede sensibilizar a todos los peruanos sobre un tema tan importante como es el manejo de residuos. La Federación Peruana de Fútbol se compromete con la campaña Peru Limpio y felicitamos al Ministerio del Ambiente por esta iniciativa”.

El Ministerio del Ambiente brindará capacitación al personal de limpieza, personal de fiscalización y  de serenazgo de las municipalidades de Ate Vitarte y La Molina, para que orienten a los asistentes al Estadio sobre el manejo de la basura, que en su mayoría son restos de comida, platos, vasos y cubiertos descartables, sorbetes, botellas de plásticos, envolturas de golosinas, papel, etc.

Cabe recordar que el 29 de julio último también se llevó a cabo la campaña “Perú Limpio” durante el Desfile Cívico Militar por Fiestas Patrias, evento durante el cual se recogieron alrededor de 25 toneladas de basura, evitando así la acumulación de desperdicios en la Av. Brasil y calles aledañas, que ocurría en años anteriores.

Las empresas privadas Coca Cola, Tetrapak, Owens Illinois y San Miguel Industrias, empresas que forman parte de la asociación Recíclame, así como la empresa Promart, vienen colaborando con la iniciativa Perú Limpio. Yet, this majesty of nature has since come under attack from overdevelopment and unsustainable practices. That is why the Ecuadorian and Peruvian governments initiated the four-year project entitled ‘Multiplying environmental and carbon benefits in high Andean ecosystems.’

The project seeks to offset the effects of widespread deforestation in the area. More importantly, it aims to take part in the conservation and enhancement of carbon stocks and biodiversity in the Andes. It focuses primarily in Carchi, Pichincha and Tungurahua (Ecuador) as well as in the states of Piura and Huancavelica (Peru).

Efforts to put this project together began as early as 2014 when the Global Environment Facility, started channeling funds toward it. As one of the leading environmental funders in the world, the institution certainly had the will and the means to initiate the project as it provided US$4,796,364 worth of funds.

Additionally, the two partner governments met the funders halfway and raised their own counterpart cash, reaching an estimated at $16.2 million.
