About Homestead Schools, Inc.

Homestead Schools, Inc. is a private nonprofit postsecondary school in Torrance that focuses on nursing and allied-health training. Its programs range from short workforce certificates to the RN-to-BSN and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN). The school reports institutional accreditation by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES); its RN-to-BSN program also holds Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accreditation. California’s Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) approves it to operate, and vocational nursing and credential programs have separate state approvals. These are different forms of oversight: check the approval and licensing pathway for the particular credential you plan to pursue.

Programs and who they serve

The 1,632-hour Vocational Nursing program awards a diploma and includes theory, skills-lab work, and supervised clinical education. Full-time schedules take about 12 months; a part-time schedule is listed at 20 months. Graduates who satisfy California’s requirements may pursue the NCLEX-PN and vocational-nurse licensure. The Nurse Assistant Training Program awards a certificate after 150 hours, and the 40-hour Home Health Aide program prepares students for a state certificate. Medical Assisting is also offered as a diploma program.

For licensed registered nurses with an associate degree or nursing diploma, the RN-to-BSN completion program awards a bachelor’s degree after 60 upper-division credits. Courses are available residentially, online, or in a blended format; the school says online enrollment is limited to California residents. An active RN license, prior nursing education, and a minimum 2.5 GPA are among its stated entry requirements. The MSN is a 37-credit graduate program. Review the school’s program pages and current catalog for course sequences, transfer-credit evaluation, and program-specific admissions requirements.

Tuition and financial aid

The school catalog covering February 1, 2026–January 31, 2027 lists tuition and fees of $31,950 for the full Vocational Nursing program, $23,700 for the 60-credit RN-to-BSN, and $18,500 for the 37-credit MSN. Those totals exclude some living, transportation, and other personal expenses; the catalog estimates total cost of attendance separately. RN-to-BSN tuition depends on the credits and prerequisites a student can transfer, so ask admissions to evaluate your transcript before comparing the total cost.

Homestead participates in federal aid, including Pell Grants, FSEOG, and federal direct loans for eligible students. The published maximum Pell Grant for 2026–27 is $7,395, but actual eligibility and awards depend on financial circumstances and enrollment. Its disclosure materials describe FAFSA and satisfactory-academic-progress requirements. The school’s website also features student scholarship testimonials, but does not clearly publish a current institutional scholarship schedule. Confirm grants, loan amounts, deadlines, and net price with the Financial Aid Office; begin with its consumer disclosures and financial-aid information.

Campus locations and contact

The main campus is at 23800 Hawthorne Boulevard, Suite 200, Torrance, CA 90505. Call (310) 791-9975 or (800) 253-0088; the school lists business hours as Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. The school also reports a branch at 3090 Bristol Street, Third Floor, Suite 350, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, phone (714) 844-1600. Its website lists vocational nursing classes at both locations, while the other programs are listed in Torrance. Branch-specific public hours are not posted, so call ahead before visiting.

The school’s own testimonial page includes students and graduates who praise tutoring, instructors, and staff support; some describe demanding course work and the need to balance study with jobs and family. These are testimonials selected and published by the institution, not an independent review sample. Niche currently signals that it needs more opinions to report student-poll results. Ask current students about clinical placements, tutoring availability, schedule changes, instructor access, and the steps required for licensure. You can contact the school or send an inquiry, and read its published student comments.
