About Humphreys University
Humphreys University is a private nonprofit university in Stockton, California, with career-oriented undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. The Stockton campus is its current listed campus; the Drivon School of Law is located at the same address. Study areas include business, criminal justice, early childhood and teacher education, legal studies, and court reporting, alongside graduate programs in education, business, and law. The school serves many working and returning students, and it offers online coursework in several fields. Before choosing a path, confirm which courses are offered in your preferred format and quarter, since a flexible schedule does not guarantee every class will run each term.
Programs that connect to specific careers
Undergraduate majors include accounting, business administration, court reporting, criminal justice, early childhood education, legal studies, liberal studies, and teacher preparation. Students interested in the justice system can compare the associate and bachelor's pathways in legal studies with the separate Juris Doctor at the Drivon School of Law. Legal studies prepares students for roles such as paralegal and legal assistant; it is not a law license. The university's court-reporting program offers associate study and an online bachelor's completion degree, with instruction in stenographic transcription, legal terminology, and professional practice. The school says the program meets the prescribed course of study for California's Certified Shorthand Reporter examination; check current licensing and speed-test requirements directly with the state board.
Graduate and professional options include the M.A. in Education, M.A. in Teaching, Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, MBA, Master of Legal Studies, and Juris Doctor. The law program holds separate accreditation from the State Bar of California's Committee of Bar Examiners; the university cautions that this may not qualify graduates for bar admission outside California. Institutional accreditation is through WSCUC, and the teacher-credential and court-reporting programs have their own state approvals. Ask the program about practicum or clinical requirements, transfer-credit evaluation, course sequencing, and state authorization if you live outside California. The official undergraduate admissions page lists majors; separate court-reporting information explains its licensure pathway.
2026–27 tuition and financial assistance
Tuition rates effective July 1, 2026 are charged by quarter unit. The published schedule lists $375 per unit for most undergraduate programs, $310 for court reporting, $385 for the M.A. in Education, $470 for the MBA, teaching credential, M.A. in Teaching, and Master of Legal Studies, and $625 for the Drivon J.D. Additional course-specific, lab, application, and graduation charges may apply. Undergraduate students have a four-unit minimum charge; a 12.5–16-unit load is billed at the 12-unit rate. Calculate the full degree total using the required units and anticipated quarters, not just the per-unit price, and request a written estimate before enrolling.
Eligible students can apply for federal aid through FAFSA (school code 001212), including Pell Grants, federal loans, and work-study, as well as California grant programs where qualified. Humphreys describes a First Year Scholarship for incoming students who receive a Cal Grant A or B High School Entitlement award; it is calculated after federal and state gift aid and may cover remaining tuition up to the tuition charged. Recipients also receive a $1,000 book voucher for the university's designated online bookstore. Other institutional tuition waivers are limited to defined employee, family, or ABLE school populations. Awards require continued satisfactory academic progress and are coordinated with other aid. See the university's current tuition and fee schedule and institutional aid conditions, then contact Student Services to discuss eligibility.

Humphreys uses a quarter calendar, and some classes are evening, online, or offered in compressed terms. Reviews on Niche praise approachable faculty and staff, individualized guidance, flexible scheduling, and career-focused instruction. Some reviewers say the tuition feels high or that they would like more courses available in a quarter. The number of public comments is modest, so treat them as personal experiences rather than a complete measure of the university. Ask the department how often required courses run, who advises students between terms, how prior credits transfer, and what total cost remains after grants. Start through the university's application and admissions information or submit a question through its contact page.
