About The School of Architecture
The School of Architecture (TSOA) is a nonprofit graduate architecture school in Scottsdale, Arizona, continuing the educational lineage of the Taliesin Fellowship founded by Frank Lloyd Wright. Its professional degree is a Master of Architecture, offered on two- and three-year tracks for applicants with different academic backgrounds. The program emphasizes design studios, hands-on building, critical thinking, and learning in relation to landscape. This is a focused graduate school rather than a general undergraduate college, so applicants should compare their prior coursework, portfolio preparation, and professional goals with the track requirements. Start with the school’s program and admissions information.
Application, schedule and cost
For spring 2027, the published application deadline is November 13, 2026, with decisions scheduled for December 11 and enrollment by December 21. For fall 2027, the priority deadline is January 15 and the final deadline is April 30; decisions are rolling after the priority round. A complete application by the priority date receives first consideration for admission and available scholarships. TSOA lists tuition of $18,000 per semester, plus $2,500 annually for insurance and activities, and a $1,000 enrollment deposit applied to first-term tuition. Housing is not provided; the school estimates Scottsdale housing at $4,400–$8,600 per semester, depending on arrangements. Ask Admissions for a current individual cost sheet and scholarship eligibility before committing. Review the tuition and cost details and accreditation and disclosures.
Scottsdale campus and questions to ask
The school’s Cattle Track Arts Campus is at 7610 E. McDonald Drive, Suite G, Scottsdale, AZ 85250. The main and Admissions phone is (480) 750-4470; general inquiries may be sent to info@tsoa.edu and applications to admissions@tsoa.edu. The public Maps listing shows a Monday opening at 9 a.m. but does not display a complete weekly schedule, so arrange a visit before traveling. TSOA moved its main activities from Arcosanti to Scottsdale in 2023; this is not the former Taliesin West campus.
Because the school is small and its professional degree is studio-intensive, ask how critique, design-build work, and faculty advising operate in each track; what supplies, travel, and project expenses are additional; and how the curriculum supports the licensure steps you plan to pursue. The current accreditation page identifies its Master of Architecture as NAAB-accredited and lists institutional accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission. Confirm the details with Admissions and the licensing board in the state where you intend to practice.
