About World Mission University

World Mission University (WMU) is a private nonprofit Christian university in Los Angeles’ Koreatown. Its academic center of gravity is ministry and biblical studies, with related programs in Christian counseling, worship, music, leadership and social work; it also offers an RN-to-BSN path. The university serves students seeking a faith-centered education for church, community and professional work, with programs at associate, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels. WMU’s stated admissions policy requires applicants to be committed to Jesus Christ, so prospective students should read that policy and decide whether the institution’s religious commitments fit them.

Programs and accreditation

Undergraduate options include Christian ministries, Christian counseling and coaching, social work, and an RN-to-BSN program for registered nurses. Graduate and doctoral study includes theology, divinity, counseling psychology, music, worship, global leadership, practical theology, church music and ministry. Program lengths, language of instruction, admissions prerequisites and delivery format vary, so confirm the exact curriculum before applying. The university’s program pages link to current degree descriptions and the full catalog.

WMU is institutionally accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE). Its School of Theology is separately accredited by the Association of Theological Schools (ATS), and its RN-to-BSN program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). WMU has also applied for eligibility with WSCUC; the university says eligibility is preliminary and is not accreditation. Check which accreditation applies to your specific program and how credits may transfer to another institution. Review the university’s accreditation statement and the ATS status record for theology degrees.

Tuition, scholarships and financial aid

WMU’s currently posted schedule lists undergraduate tuition generally at $300 per credit, with RN-to-BSN at $250 per credit. Many master’s programs are listed at $320 per credit; doctoral programs range from $440 to $650 per credit depending on the degree. Application, enrollment, administrative and other fees are additional, and tuition is subject to change. Ask the Registrar for a current written estimate that includes credits, fees, books and the time needed to complete your degree.

The university offers semester-based institutional scholarships to eligible full-time students who meet academic-progress and conduct requirements and submit an application on time. Awards include a 50% tuition scholarship for qualifying mission-focused students who have completed 24 credits, maintained a 3.9 GPA and served in mission-related ministry for more than three years; the recipient must maintain a 3.8 GPA. Other published options include a 30% alumni tuition discount for qualifying WMU graduates entering specified master’s programs, mission-service awards and limited matching scholarships. These are conditional and do not cover fees automatically. Read the current tuition and scholarship rules and contact the Registrar before counting on an award.

Campus and application

Main campus: 500 Shatto Place, Los Angeles, CA 90020; (213) 388-1000. Main office hours are Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday are closed. The campus is in Koreatown, near Fifth Avenue and Shatto Place. WMU’s public materials identify this Los Angeles campus and its online courses; they do not list another physical campus.

Applicants need prior academic records appropriate to the credential: a high school diploma or equivalent for bachelor’s study, an undergraduate degree for a master’s program, and a graduate degree for doctoral study. WMU also requires an application and a nonrefundable application fee. International students should ask about immigration documentation, English-language requirements and payment timing, because the university publishes separate registration and financial-support rules. Begin with the admissions information page and confirm the relevant term and program directly with the Registrar.

What public comments can tell you

There is little recent, clearly student-focused public feedback to compare: the main review platforms show a small pool, and some public comments are several years old or appear to come from visitors rather than students. That is not enough to draw a reliable conclusion about the current academic or campus experience. Ask WMU to connect you with a current student or graduate in your intended program, and ask specifically about advising, online access, course scheduling, language of instruction and how the scholarship conditions work in practice.
