Denver Seminary

A nonprofit graduate seminary in Littleton offering theological, ministry and counseling degrees in residential, blended and online formats.

About Denver Seminary

Denver Seminary is a private, nonprofit graduate school of theology based in Littleton, south of Denver. Its programs serve people preparing for church and community leadership, counseling, pastoral care, scholarship and related vocations. The school describes its community as multidenominational, with students representing more than 50 denominations, and offers residential, blended and fully online study. It is a graduate institution rather than a general-purpose undergraduate college, so applicants should first compare the degree’s theological commitments and professional outcomes with their own goals.

Programs, formats and accreditation

Its ten degree programs include the Master of Divinity, Master of Arts degrees, Master of Theology, Doctor of Ministry and PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. Counseling is a significant professional pathway: the MA in Counseling offers Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling concentrations, both accredited by CACREP. The Association of Theological Schools accredits the seminary and its approved theological degrees, and Denver Seminary is also institutionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Those distinctions matter: students seeking counseling licensure should check each state’s education and supervised-practice rules before enrolling, because the seminary does not guarantee that its curriculum meets every state’s requirements. See the program directory for degree details and study formats.

The main campus is in Littleton. The seminary also operates an extension campus at First Baptist Church of Glenarden Ministry Center in Landover, Maryland, and offers fully online programs. The Washington-area site makes selected seminary study available without relocating to Colorado, but not every class is offered there; confirm the specific program’s location and schedule with Admissions.

Tuition, scholarships and financial planning

For 2026–27, master’s-level and Doctor of Ministry tuition is $720 per credit hour; PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision tuition is $895 per credit hour. The published schedule also lists a $270 academic services fee in fall and spring, a $500 counseling program fee and a $250 counseling clinical fee in fall and spring. At nine credits per semester, master’s tuition alone is $6,480 per semester, before fees, books, housing, transportation and other costs. Rates can change, so use the seminary’s 2026–27 tuition schedule for a complete estimate.

Financial support includes more than 70 seminary and donor-funded scholarships, grants and discounts. Students generally submit the school’s scholarship application; FAFSA is needed for federal loans or work-study. The Kingdom Scholars award, for eligible full-time MDiv students pursuing ministry, is described as a 50% tuition discount. Engaging Hope scholarships are need-based and open to eligible students in any degree program; awards vary, and full-tuition coverage is limited to full-time students. A spouse discount may also reduce tuition by 50% when both spouses attend concurrently and the full-time student meets the school’s definition. Eligibility, credit minimums and deadlines vary, so contact Financial Aid before treating any award as guaranteed. The seminary’s scholarship and discount guide explains applications and current conditions.

Campus, access and student perspective

The administration building at the Littleton campus is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; classroom and student-center hours extend into evenings on some weekdays, and the student center also opens Saturdays. The campus also includes a library and a counseling center that serves by appointment. Call ahead for a visit, counseling appointment or access to a specific building because schedules differ by facility and can change during breaks.

In the seminary’s published student interviews, counseling and MDiv students point to the value of close faculty relationships and describe education shaped by both academic study and faith. That perspective fits the school’s mentoring-focused, multidenominational identity, though these are institutional testimonials rather than an independent survey. Prospective students may want to ask current students about the balance of theological formation and professional preparation, the workload alongside employment or family, and how clinical placements and state licensure requirements work for the counseling track they are considering.

For program advice or an application, use the seminary’s Admissions and Aid page to request information, arrange a visit, or begin the application process. The main campus is at 6399 South Santa Fe Drive, Littleton, Colorado 80120; general inquiries: 303-761-2482. The Washington DC extension site is at First Baptist Church of Glenarden Ministry Center, 3600 Brightseat Road, Landover, Maryland 20785; phone 240-532-7881.
