About Hobe Sound Bible College
Hobe Sound Bible College (HSBC) is an interdenominational Christian college in Hobe Sound, Florida, founded in 1960. Its small residential campus and online study options serve students preparing for church ministry and related professional work. Bible and theology sit alongside counseling, education, missions, music and professional studies; this is a faith-centered school, so prospective students should review the college’s doctrinal position and conduct expectations as well as its academic offerings before applying.
Degrees and programs
The college lists 19 programs across six academic divisions. Undergraduate choices include counseling, ministerial studies, intercultural studies, music, business, general Christian studies, preprofessional studies, education, TESOL and child evangelism. Graduate options include a Master of Arts in Counseling, Master of Education and Master of Arts in Theology. Selected programs are available online; the list varies by degree, so confirm delivery mode and course availability before planning around a fully online schedule. Welding and aviation also appear in the college’s program menu; ask the school about current entry requirements and delivery details for these career-oriented options. Its complete degree list identifies which programs are available online.
Accreditation needs careful review. HSBC identifies the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE) as its institutional accreditor and says it remains accredited during a public probation period. ABHE’s July 6, 2026 action placed the college on probation through February 2027, citing incomplete or late documentation connected with a required Teach-Out Plan and Agreements. The action required a progress report by September 15, 2026; the public material reviewed for this guide still shows probation and does not establish the outcome of that report. Read the ABHE public action notice and ask the college and accreditor for a current written update. This is a real institutional concern for prospective students. Before enrolling, ask HSBC and ABHE for the latest written status and find out how it could affect transfer credit, graduate-school admission, licensure or future program changes. Florida’s Commission for Independent Education separately lists the college as licensed; state licensure and accreditation are different things.
Tuition, financial aid and planning costs
For 2026–27, the college lists undergraduate tuition at $275 per credit, including online undergraduate courses; online graduate tuition is $425 per credit. The published schedule also lists a $999 student-service fee each semester, $125 technology fee per course, and—if living on campus—$1,649 for a room and $2,525 for board each semester. Some programs and optional services have additional fees. The college says students who pay their statement in full before the end of drop/add receive a $200 deduction; a $50 monthly balance charge applies unless an approved four- or five-month payment plan is followed. Check the current tuition and fee schedule and ask for an individualized estimate before committing.
HSBC describes financial support through scholarships, grants, loans and off-campus work opportunities. Students seeking federal aid must file the FAFSA using school code 015463; eligibility and award amounts depend on the student’s circumstances. The college’s 2024 cohort reporting says 62% received Pell Grants and 29% received Federal Direct Loans, which gives context about that cohort but does not predict an individual package. Veterans using eligible VA education benefits have a published pending-payment policy that protects enrollment and campus access for up to 90 days after certification while payment is pending, subject to the required documentation. Contact Financial Aid early to review grants, scholarships, loans, deadlines and the net cost for your program.
Campus life, admissions and visiting
The Hobe Sound campus includes classrooms, a library, science lab, cafeteria, student center, gymnasium, recreational facilities and men’s and women’s residence halls. HSBC’s 2025–26 quick statistics report 186 undergraduate and 29 graduate students, with an average class size of about 10.5 on campus and a 5:1 student-to-faculty ratio in its undergraduate reporting. Those figures suggest a close campus setting, though actual class size and support vary by course and format. The school welcomes prospective students to schedule a visit; it says visitors may receive a tour and up to three days and nights of food and lodging when classes are in session. Call ahead to arrange the visit.
Main campus: 11298 SE Gomez Avenue, Hobe Sound, FL 33455; (772) 546-5534. The college publishes no regular public opening hours for walk-in visits; campus tours should be arranged in advance. The contact page lists the same physical address and phone. The college also provides online study, but the Hobe Sound address is its main campus; confirm any program-specific or off-campus location directly with Admissions.
Applicants are expected to meet academic qualifications and agree with the institution’s doctrinal position, ethical standards and educational philosophy. The admissions office can explain the application, transfer-credit review, disability accommodations and program-specific requirements. Start with the college’s online application or its information request form; prospective students may also schedule a campus visit.
What students say
Public comments about the school’s setting often describe a friendly, quiet campus and positive interactions with staff; several visitors also praise the grounds and the opportunity to grow in faith. A recent student review on another public review site, however, reports frustration with admissions communication and receiving a required-document list late in the process. These are individual accounts, not guarantees of what every student will experience. To avoid last-minute surprises, ask Admissions for a written checklist, deadlines, transfer-credit timeline, and the name of the person who will handle your application.
