About Fairfield University
Fairfield University is a private, nonprofit Jesuit and Catholic university in Fairfield, Connecticut. Its main undergraduate campus brings together five academic schools: the John Charles Meditz College of Arts and Sciences, Charles F. Dolan School of Business, Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies, School of Engineering and Computing, and School of Education and Human Development. Fairfield says its Magis Core curriculum gives undergraduates a shared liberal arts foundation while allowing them to pursue majors and professional fields. The Jesuit emphasis on reflection, service and care for the whole person is part of the academic mission, rather than a program limited to theology or campus ministry.
Programs and learning locations
The university lists 55 majors and offers fields including accounting, finance, business analytics, nursing, biology, computer science, engineering, psychology, public health, social work, communication and education. Students can also pursue interdisciplinary options such as environmental studies, international studies, sports business, and integrated business and engineering. The majors and minors directory is the best place to check degree level and current options; some programs are housed in particular schools and have separate admission or progression requirements.
Fairfield University has learning sites beyond its main campus. The main campus is at 1073 North Benson Road in Fairfield. Fairfield Bellarmine is a nonresidential campus at 460 Mill Hill Avenue in Bridgeport, offering two-year associate degrees in business, computer science, liberal studies and health studies, with academic support aimed in part at first-generation students and families with limited resources. The university also lists a nursing and professional-certification site at 7951 Shoal Creek Boulevard in Austin, Texas. Its academic catalog identifies Enders Island in Mystic, Connecticut, as an additional campus location and lists 860-536-0565 for that site. Confirm which campus serves your program before applying, since locations and degree offerings are not interchangeable.
2026–27 cost and financial help
For 2026–27, full-time undergraduate tuition is $61,390 and the annual general fee is $1,025. Fairfield’s estimated residential cost-of-attendance budget is $87,804, including average housing, the unlimited meal plan, books, transportation and personal expenses. Actual housing and other charges vary, and an off-campus or commuter student will have a different budget. Check the tuition and cost information and compare it with the bill and budget for your intended program.
Need-based university grants are available to eligible full-time undergraduates, and the school also participates in federal and state aid programs, including Pell Grants and work-study. To have need-based aid processed, Fairfield requires both the FAFSA and CSS Profile, with a noncustodial profile when applicable; its published deadlines differ for early, regular and transfer applicants. Admitted undergraduates are automatically considered for merit scholarships without a separate scholarship application. Current awards range from $10,000 to $30,000 per year and apply to tuition only. Confirm the renewal terms in your award letter. The undergraduate aid guide gives eligibility and deadline details.
Campus experience and how to visit
Student comments often value the small classes, faculty support and close campus community. Reviews also describe social life as dependent on personal fit, with some students mentioning cliques, off-campus parties or limited diversity, and mixed impressions of housing and facilities. These are individual perspectives, not a promise of what any one student will experience. Ask about residence hall choices, dining, clubs and weekend activities during a visit, and talk with students in your intended school.
The main campus address is 1073 North Benson Road, Fairfield, CT 06824, and the university’s general phone is (203) 254-4000. University office listings show weekday hours, generally 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. during fall and spring; hours vary by office and season, so call before visiting without an appointment. The registrar’s listed fall and spring hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Fairfield University is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE).
To ask about admission or book a campus tour, use the university’s official campus visit and registration page. Check campus-specific admissions requirements, especially for Bellarmine and nursing, and compare the complete aid offer against the full cost of attendance before making a deposit.
