About Goodwin University

Goodwin University is a nonprofit, career-focused institution in East Hartford, Connecticut. It offers certificates and associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees through three schools: Nursing and Health Professions; Business, Technology and Advanced Manufacturing; and Applied Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. The university schedules courses during three academic sessions each year, with evening, weekend, online and hybrid options that may help students fit study around work and family. Program delivery differs, however, so confirm which classes are on campus and whether clinical, lab or in-person requirements affect your schedule.

Programs, schedules and campus sites

Goodwin’s catalog spans nursing and health fields such as practical nursing, registered nursing, the accelerated BSN, RN-to-BSN, public health, dental hygiene, radiography, respiratory care, medical assisting and funeral service. Other options include business administration, human services, teacher leadership, professional studies, CNC machining, welding, manufacturing management and quality systems. Some master’s and completion programs are fully online; others include in-person learning or clinical placements. Use the current degree and certificate directory to compare levels, formats and entry requirements before choosing a track.

Student services and administrative offices are centered at One Riverside Drive, East Hartford, CT 06118. Classes are also held at the Health Sciences Annex, 373 Main Street; the Health Sciences building, 403 Main Street; 417 Main Street (administrative offices and Funeral Services); Two King Court; and the Business and Manufacturing Center at Three Pent Road. All are in East Hartford. Ask the university which address applies to your specific course or appointment before traveling, as students are taught in several buildings.

Tuition, grants and scholarships

Goodwin’s public tuition page currently lists $10,492 per semester for full-time students taking 12–18 credits and $13,254 per semester for the accelerated BSN. Part-time rates depend on credit load, with a listed rate of $770 per credit for students taking fewer than six credits. The university says tuition and fees may change; program-specific expenses, books, clinical requirements and other charges can affect the total. Check the tuition and student-cost page and ask Financial Aid for a written estimate for your program and start term.

Goodwin’s aid menu includes need-based grants, federal Pell and Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, work-study, loans and institutional or foundation scholarships. For example, the Foundation’s current scholarship list includes a $5,000 nursing award for an enrolled nursing student who has completed at least half of their credits, holds a 3.0 GPA or higher and demonstrates financial need; the page lists one award for the fall semester. A separate $1,000 Janice Watts, RN, scholarship is listed for a nursing major meeting GPA and financial-need criteria. These awards are limited and their availability changes by term, so check deadlines and eligibility rather than treating them as guaranteed discounts. The Foundation scholarship list gives the current criteria. Contact Financial Aid at 860-727-6723 and submit the FAFSA each year if applying for federal aid.

Important nursing-program status

Applicants should distinguish the nursing pathways. Goodwin’s official accreditation page says its associate degree in nursing is accredited by ACEN and lists a continuing-accreditation visit for fall 2026. The same page currently states that the associate program is under conditional approval by Connecticut’s Board of Examiners of Nursing because its 2025–26 NCLEX-RN pass rate was 74.63%, below the state’s 80% minimum. Since the posted fall 2026 visit date has passed, applicants should contact the nursing school for the latest state approval and ACEN decision before enrolling. Goodwin separately lists CCNE accreditation for its bachelor’s nursing programs and master’s nursing program; radiography is listed as pending initial JRCERT accreditation. Review the university’s program-by-program accreditation information and ask how a program’s current status may affect licensure, transfer or employment plans.

Student experience and visiting

Student comments often praise helpful instructors, hands-on training and flexible schedules, particularly for people balancing school with work or family. Other reviews mention slow administrative communication, tuition concerns or a desire for more campus activities and resources. These accounts vary by program and student. Before enrolling, ask how quickly advising and financial-aid questions are answered, how clinical placements are arranged, and what support is available if you need to change your course load.

The main campus is at One Riverside Drive, East Hartford, CT 06118, and the university operator is 860-528-4111. Google’s public listing shows campus access Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.–9 p.m., Saturday, 8 a.m.–6 p.m., and closed Sunday; individual offices keep shorter schedules. For example, the Registrar’s Office at One Riverside Drive is open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m.–3 p.m.; evening appointments may be available. Goodwin is institutionally accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE).

Prospective students can request information, apply or arrange a tour through the university’s official admissions and campus-visit page. Bring your intended program, schedule and transfer-credit questions to the conversation, and request a net-cost estimate and any program-specific accreditation updates in writing.
