About SEED Scholarship — Delaware Technical Community College and University of Delaware Associate in Arts Program

SEED, or Student Excellence Equals Degree, reduces tuition in selected public pathways in Delaware, but it is not a universal scholarship for any college. It serves students who meet residency and admission rules and study at Delaware Technical Community College or the University of Delaware’s Associate in Arts Program. In the associate-degree pathway, recent graduates generally need a 2.5 high-school GPA or 80 on a 100-point scale, 12 credits in the first semester and a FAFSA; exceptions and technical-credential routes should be confirmed with the campus. The award pays tuition, not books, mandatory fees or living costs.

The practical application begins with admission and transcripts, not an assumption that funding will appear automatically. Delaware Tech says students must file the FAFSA each year, submit an official transcript and meet progress rules; associate students must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA, and eligibility may renew automatically when requirements are met. Its FAQ also lists a ten-continuous-semester limit, excluding summer, and says repeated courses are not paid again through SEED. Exact rules vary by campus and program type, so ask for a written estimate before enrolling.

SEED can be a bridge toward a four-year degree, but transfer planning matters. The University of Delaware describes its Associate in Arts Program as a structured route to a bachelor’s degree; elsewhere, the receiving major and campus decide which credits count. In a public student thread, some participants praise smaller classes and closer support at DelTech, while others describe a more difficult social adjustment after moving to a larger campus. These are personal accounts, not a transfer guarantee. Ask which courses fit your major, what charges fall outside tuition, and whether materials or transportation create extra costs.
