About Azusa Pacific University
Azusa Pacific University (APU) is a private, nonprofit evangelical Christian university whose main campus is in Azusa, California. It serves undergraduate, graduate, and professional students through on-campus, online, and regional programs across Southern California. Its offerings range from nursing, business, and education to psychology, social work, sciences, music, and theology. The university’s Christian identity is part of its academic mission and campus life, so applicants should consider both the academic program and whether APU’s faith-centered environment matches what they want from college.
Programs and where they are offered
APU awards bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, certificates, and teaching credentials. Among its undergraduate majors are nursing, social work, psychology, biology, business, cinematic arts, engineering, music, and education; graduate and professional study includes nursing practice, clinical psychology, physical therapy, education, counseling, social work, business, and theology. Program availability varies by degree level and campus. Use APU’s complete program finder to filter by subject, credential, delivery format, and location, then confirm the course schedule with the department. Students comparing nursing or other licensed professions should also check that specific program’s professional accreditation and clinical or field-placement requirements.
Admissions, faith, and student fit
APU has separate application paths for traditional undergraduates, transfers, graduate and professional students, and international applicants. Requirements, deadlines, and portfolio or prerequisite materials differ by program. Its admissions office lists weekday hours of 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Friday. APU describes itself as Christ-centered and integrates Christian perspectives into its educational mission. Student comments in public review sources often appreciate small classes, accessible faculty, and a close community; they also describe demanding workloads, and faith integration is a recurring point applicants should explore for themselves. Ask the department about expectations in your particular major, campus community standards, and any required spiritual-life activities before enrolling. A campus visit and conversation with current students can help determine whether the environment is a good fit.
Tuition and scholarship help
For 2026–27, full-time traditional undergraduate tuition is $22,990 per semester for 12–18 units. APU’s estimated cost of attendance for two semesters is $68,470, including tuition, fees, books, housing and food, transportation, and personal expenses; health insurance may add to that estimate. Graduate and professional tuition depends on the program. Incoming first-year and transfer undergraduates may qualify for renewable academic scholarships from $15,000 to $24,000 a year; first-year students selected for the Trustees’ Scholarship may receive full tuition. Awards depend on academic record and eligibility, and students must meet renewal conditions. APU reports that all new admitted students receive some scholarship support, but a scholarship is not the same as a final financial-aid offer. Compare the full cost against grants, loans, housing, and program-specific fees using the official tuition and cost information and scholarship criteria, and request an individualized net-price estimate.

Accreditation and what changed recently
APU is institutionally accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), with additional professional accreditations for fields such as nursing, social work, physical therapy, psychology, and theology. WSCUC currently lists APU as accredited. In June 2026, after a special visit, the commission removed the university’s formal Notice of Concern; a progress report is scheduled for fall 2027. This is useful context for applicants reviewing the institution’s recent accreditation history, while the current listing confirms accredited status. Check both institutional and program-level accreditation when a particular credential is tied to licensing or professional practice.
