About Emory University

Emory University is a private, nonprofit research university in Atlanta, Georgia, with an additional undergraduate campus in Oxford, Georgia. Founded in 1836, it now brings together a broad liberal arts college, undergraduate programs in business and nursing, and graduate and professional schools in medicine, law, public health, theology, nursing, business and the humanities and sciences. The Atlanta campus is integrated with the city’s health, research and cultural institutions; Oxford College offers a smaller, residential first-two-years route before students move to Atlanta to complete a bachelor’s degree. Prospective students should decide which entry campus and school fit their goals, because admission plans, campus experience and aid eligibility can depend on the program.

Programs across nine schools and colleges

Emory College of Arts and Sciences offers nearly 150 undergraduate majors and minors, spanning biology, chemistry, neuroscience, computer science, economics, political science, psychology, English, history, languages, music, theater and dance, and many other subjects. Undergraduate students can also pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration through Goizueta Business School or nursing degrees through the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. Oxford College provides a two-year liberal arts program; students who complete its requirements continue into the Atlanta-based Emory College or another eligible undergraduate school to finish their Emory degree.

Graduate and professional study is offered through the School of Medicine, School of Law, Rollins School of Public Health, Candler School of Theology, Laney Graduate School, Goizueta Business School and the School of Nursing, alongside Oxford and Emory College. Programs include medicine, public health, law, theology, business analytics and MBA study, advanced nursing, and master’s and doctoral research in the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. Emory lists hundreds of graduate and professional options, so applicants should use the catalog for their school to compare prerequisites, clinical or field placements, research expectations and licensure requirements. Start with the official schools and colleges directory and follow the program link for the degree you are considering.

Two undergraduate campus experiences

The main Atlanta campus houses Emory College, Goizueta’s undergraduate business program, undergraduate nursing and the university’s graduate and professional schools. It is near the Druid Hills and Decatur area, with the resources and transportation options of metropolitan Atlanta. Oxford College is a separate residential campus about 45 minutes east of Atlanta. Its students begin with a small-campus liberal arts experience and, after the first two years, move to Atlanta to complete their bachelor’s studies. The two campus routes share Emory’s admission system but have distinct housing, student-support and campus-life arrangements; students should compare the transition point, major availability and aid offer before selecting either entry option.

Atlanta main campus: 201 Dowman Drive, Atlanta, GA 30322; (404) 727-6123. The main university listing gives administrative hours Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., and shows Saturday and Sunday as closed. Individual schools and offices may keep different service hours, so confirm with the office before traveling.

Oxford College: 801 Emory Street, Oxford, GA 30054; (770) 784-8888. Oxford is a residential undergraduate campus. Enrollment Services can be reached at (770) 784-8328 or oxadmission@emory.edu. See the college’s Oxford contact and campus information for school-specific questions.

2026–27 undergraduate price and cost planning

For 2026–27, Emory lists annual undergraduate tuition at $70,300. Its published total for tuition, fees, a double room and the unlimited meal plan is $93,128. That amount covers the listed student activity, athletic, health and wellness fees as well as standard room and board; books, travel, personal expenses and some program-specific charges can raise a student’s overall budget. Oxford’s catalog lists a similar undergraduate tuition rate and separately estimates housing and food, but the campus living plan and some fees differ. Graduate and professional costs vary by school and degree, so do not use the undergraduate figure to estimate a medical, law, public health, nursing or graduate-school bill. Review the university’s current tuition and fee schedules and the cost-of-attendance table for your campus and program.

Financial aid, scholarships and tuition-free eligibility

Emory says it meets 100% of demonstrated financial need for domestic undergraduate students. Through Emory Advantage, eligible students receive institutional grants in place of need-based loans in their need-based aid packages. Starting in Fall 2026, Emory Advantage Plus covers full tuition for eligible domestic, first-degree undergraduate students from families with assessed parental income up to $200,000 and typical assets. It applies to qualifying students in Emory College, Oxford College, the Goizueta BBA and the undergraduate Nursing program, for up to eight fall and spring semesters. It is a tuition benefit, not a promise that room, meals, books, fees and personal expenses are all free. Eligibility is determined from the required financial documents and asset review, and international students are considered separately for a limited number of need-based awards.

Incoming undergraduates seeking need-based aid should submit the FAFSA, CSS Profile and any requested IDOC tax documents by the deadline for their admission plan; returning students file the annual forms required by Financial Aid. Emory also awards merit scholarships, including Woodruff Scholars and other school-specific programs, with some candidates considered through their admission application and others requiring additional eligibility steps. Use the university’s Emory Advantage Plus eligibility and application details alongside the financial-aid office’s cost tools. Families should ask how their award handles housing, meal plans, travel, health insurance and any remaining contribution before accepting an offer.

Admission plans and application steps

For Fall 2027 first-year admission, Emory publishes Early Decision I, Early Decision II and Regular Decision plans, with application deadlines of November 1, January 1 and January 1 respectively; the transfer deadline is March 15. The separate Emory University Scholar Programs deadline is November 15. Early Decision is binding if Emory admits the applicant and the financial aid offer makes attendance affordable, so families should understand the commitment before selecting that plan. Financial-aid deadlines also differ by plan. Test scores are optional for the 2026–27 application cycle under the current policy, though applicants may submit SAT or ACT results. Requirements can differ for international, transfer and program applicants. Review the current application plans, deadlines and aid dates, then submit the online application and request information or a campus visit through Undergraduate Admission.

Student experience and questions to raise on a visit

Student comments often point to strong academic resources, research opportunities, engaged faculty and a diverse community. Some describe demanding coursework, particularly in pre-health and other high-intensity paths; others say the campus social scene can feel quieter than expected or that they want more support for student well-being. Experiences vary by school, year and campus. Ask current students how they found mentors, how early they joined a research group, where they go for academic and mental-health support, and how campus organizations fit around a heavy course schedule. A range of Emory student reviews can help you prepare questions, but a visit and conversation with students in your intended school will be more useful than treating online comments as a prediction.

Emory is a strong option for students who want research and professional-school resources alongside undergraduate study in a major city. The main decision is often which school, campus and aid route best match the student’s academic plans. Compare a specific major’s requirements, the cost after grants, and the transition between Oxford and Atlanta if you are considering Oxford College. Emory’s official contacts page lists the right offices for admissions, each school and general questions.
