Script-easy®: NHS prescription dispensing with home delivery

Script-easy® is a confidential prescription dispensing service operated by BD. It is registered with the NHS as a Dispensing Appliance Contractor (DAC) and supplies continence and stoma appliances and medical devices upon receipt of a prescription. The service is designed to deliver prescription products directly to the patient's door in discreet, unmarked packaging.

The company presents itself as a free home delivery service. Delivery is free of charge, and only the prescription fee is payable unless the patient is exempt. Script-easy® also states that it provides confidential advice and help with prescription products, supported by a comprehensive range of stock.

How the prescription process works

In most cases, Script-easy® obtains the prescription from the patient's GP or healthcare professional on the patient's behalf. The service is connected to the NHS Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) in England. Where a GP surgery operates EPS, prescriptions can be sent electronically straight to Script-easy®, similar to an email, which the company says saves time and effort for those with regular repeat prescriptions.

Prescribed items are free of charge for patients over 60, or aged between 18 and 60 with a valid reason for exemption. A full list of exemptions is available on the NHS website. Patients who pay for prescribed items are asked for payment by credit card or bank transfer.

Delivery, collection and stock alternatives

Script-easy® dispenses NHS prescription items in plain packaging and delivers to the patient's home or to an alternative address of the patient's choice within the UK. Patients who prefer to collect their prescription items can do so. If a product is not available from a supplier, the company offers alternatives to suit the patient's needs until stocks become available.
