Rockaway Toys

Rockaway Toys, a toy shop at Brimstage Courtyard in Wirral

Rockaway Toys operates from Unit 9 at Brimstage Hall and Courtyard on Brimstage Road, in the Wirral village of Brimstage. The shop presents itself as a destination for premium wooden toys, books and trading card games, and its online catalogue lists 319 products at the time of writing this profile. The range is organised around play categories rather than age bands, with sections for bricks and blocks, pretend play, dolls and doll's houses, farms and dinosaurs, transport and construction, outdoor toys, soft toys, fancy dress, games and puzzles, and STEM.

Wooden toys and classic play categories

A large part of the assortment is built around wooden and plastic-free play. The bricks and blocks section covers magnetic blocks and stacking toys; pretend play includes play food for kitchens, shops and cafés, sets for doctors, nurses, dentists and vets, and tools and workbenches. Castles and pirates are grouped separately, as are bath toys and squirters. The dolls section extends to doll's house furniture and accessories and play mats, while the farms, animals and dinosaurs area covers farm sets, dinosaurs, wild animals, sea animals and animal-themed games and puzzles.

Transport and construction brings together cars and trucks, trains and railways, aircraft and rockets, and tools and workbenches. Outdoor play is represented by bubbles, dens and forts, activity kits, and mud, sand and water play. Soft toys include dolls, animals and dinosaurs, and arks; the baby toys section sits alongside fancy dress, accessories and costumes, magnetic toys, pocket money items, and ride-on and rocking toys.

Books and trading cards

Books form a distinct part of the offer. The shop states that it lists over 250 books on its website and that, if a title is not shown but is currently in print, it can be ordered in on request. Trading cards are also part of the catalogue, with Pokémon and One Piece TCG named among the products stocked.

The shop organises part of its catalogue by brand. The brands listed run from Baghera, Best Years, Bon Ton Toys, Boppi, Candylab, Cotton Twist, Dr Zigs, Eggnog, Fabelab, Goki, Curve Lab, Haba, Heimess, Holztiger, Janod, Lanka Kade and Le Toy Van through to Micador, MOLUK, Sumblox, Pebble, Plan Toys, Play Press, Pokémon, Small Foot, Oli & Carol, Terra Kids, The Den Kit Company, TickiT, Way to Play, Yellow Door, Zimpli Kids and Toby Tiger. Buying from the shop

The website includes a sale section with discounted lines, among them House of Marbles colouring pencils, wiggly woolly worms, flying birds, wooden bracelets, mini mosaic art kits, rainbow crayon pens, paper fans and mini fighter racing planes, alongside Zimpli Gelli Play and Slime Play sensory toys. A first-order discount code, WELCOME, gives 10% off and excludes sale items. The shop also publishes a returns policy: items can be returned in their original condition within 30 days of receipt, with a Royal Mail returns label available at a cost of £3.95 deducted from the refund, a service that excludes oversized items measuring more than 61 x 46 x 46 cm.

Delivery across the United Kingdom

Standard shipping within the United Kingdom costs £3.95 and is free on orders over £40. Most items are dispatched within two to three working days by Royal Mail Tracked 48, with oversized items sent by courier. A Tracked 24 option costs £5.95 and offers same-day dispatch for orders placed by 2pm. The shop notes that these are estimated transit times rather than guaranteed timescales and that deliveries may take longer at peak periods, around bank holidays, in remote destinations or in adverse weather.
