About Limefitt Lodge Holidays

Privately owned lodge accommodation in the Troutbeck valley

Limefitt Lodge Holidays is a small private holiday rental run by Christopher and Richard Rich-Bate. Its accommodation is Hollybank Lodge, a lodge the owners describe as their own property, let directly rather than through the park operator. The lodge sits on Limefitt Park, a site in the Troutbeck valley about three miles north of Windermere, in the Lake District. The owners state explicitly that Limefitt Park is owned and managed by Parkdean Resorts and that Limefitt Lodge Holidays has no connection with that company.

The rental is presented as a staycation base for the Lake District, with Windermere and Ambleside both a short drive away. The Trout Beck runs through the park, and the site gives direct access to the fells.

Inside Hollybank Lodge

The lodge is laid out as an open-plan living and dining space. The lounge contains two fabric sofas, a fabric chair, oak furniture and a feature electric fireplace; the dining area has an oak table with four chairs. Double French doors open onto the front decking. Heating is gas central heating and the windows are double glazed, which the owners present as making the lodge comfortable across seasons. A well-equipped kitchen includes gas hobs and electric ovens. Bed linen and towels are provided free of charge, and the lodge has its own independent Wi-Fi connection at no cost.

Outside, a large secure decking area with lockable gates is intended for sitting out and for keeping dogs safely contained while still able to see the surroundings.

Dog-friendly arrangements

Dogs are accepted, and the owners frame the Lake District as a suitable destination for holidays with pets. Two well-behaved dogs stay free of charge, with no hidden extras, and guests are asked to include their dogs in the booking. On the park, dogs must be kept on a lead, but a dedicated dog field is set aside for exercising them off lead. The Haybarn Inn on the park is dog friendly, and the owners mention two further dog-friendly pubs within a 15-minute walk.

Facilities on Limefitt Park

The park is described as peaceful and tranquil, with views across the valley and the Trout Beck running through it. Among the facilities listed are:

  • The Haybarn Inn, serving food and Lakeland ales in traditional surroundings, with two outside beer gardens overlooking the valley
  • A zip wire beside the Trout Beck
  • An outdoor children's play area with swings and slides
  • A recreation field with woodland picnic tables
  • A dog field for off-lead exercise
  • A small shop at reception

The park has received a David Bellamy Gold Conservation Award and is described as honeybee friendly.
