A Little Bird Co.: seasonal bird food and feeders for garden birds

A Little Bird Co. is a UK-based independent small business that sells seasonal bird food, bird feeders and related products for attracting wild birds to gardens. The company describes its food as waste-free and no-grow, supplied in plastic-free packaging, and presents itself as rated 'Excellent' on Trustpilot. Its range is built around a wheat-free blend intended for small garden birds.

Seasonal bird food blends

The core product is a seasonal bird food blend that changes through the year. The company offers a subscription in which the mix is adjusted monthly according to the season, with four blends described on its site:

• Winter (Fall Into Winter Blend): sunflower hearts, suet pellets, chopped peanuts, dried mealworms, hemp seed and pinhead oats.
• Spring (Nesting Blend): the standard base mix of sunflower hearts, chopped peanuts and suet, plus oyster shell grit to support eggshell formation.
• Late spring/early summer (New Families Blend): sunflower hearts, chopped peanuts, suet pellets, pinhead oats and oil-rich hemp seed, without dried mealworms.
• Late summer (Fledglings and Feathers Blend): sunflower hearts, chopped peanuts, oil-rich hemp seed and suet pellets.

The food is available as a one-time purchase or as a subscription. The site lists a starting price of £6.95 for the seasonal bird food, and a prepaid bird food gift subscription from £9.55.

Bird feeders and accessories

Alongside food, the company sells a range of feeders designed to deter particular species or suit specific birds. The catalogue includes squirrel-proof, pigeon-proof, crow and magpie-proof, parakeet-proof and starling-proof feeders, as well as window feeders and a 'find your perfect feeder' selection tool. Named products include the Squirrel Buster Bird Feeder (£45.99), the Little Bird Window Feeder (£19.95) and the Starling-Proof Bird Feeder Guardian Set (£64.99). The site also offers a garden bird spotting chart for £3.50.

Gifts and guidance

For gifting, A Little Bird Co. offers prepaid bird food subscriptions and gift vouchers, along with Fairtrade nesters, books and guides, and greetings cards. The company provides a 'Help me choose' questionnaire to help customers select food and feeders based on their garden and the birds they want to attract. It also publishes a blog addressing bird feeding and disease, including a response to RSPB guidance.

Subscriptions and shipping

New subscribers receive free shipping on their first three subscription orders, according to a promotion displayed on the site. The company also indicates free shipping on orders over £40. The online shop lists customer ratings for individual products, such as 4.92/5 from 160 reviews for the seasonal bird food and 4.63/5 from 30 reviews for the Squirrel Buster feeder.
