About Coffee House

Coffee House: an independent roaster and coffee shop chain rooted in the North of England

Coffee House is an independent chain of coffee shops operating across the North of England. Its headquarters in Warrington concentrate the operational core of the business in four units the company names as the WareHouse, CookHouse, BakeHouse and RoastHouse. The company presents itself as roasters, bakers and fresh food makers, and its coffee is roasted in Warrington.

The business began in Lymm Village, where two brothers set out to change how people eat, drink and relax. After that first success the company expanded onto what it describes as forgotten high streets in the North of England, with local regeneration in mind. Fourteen years after opening in Lymm, the company stated it was preparing a further store opening and had additional plans in development.

Speciality coffee roasted in-house

The coffee range is built on speciality graded beans that the company describes as ethically sourced and traceable, roasted on its own premises. The foundational product is the House Coffee, a blend of Brazil, Honduras and Sumatra with tasting notes of dark chocolate, vanilla and bonfire toffee. It is sold from £5.15.

Single-origin lots complement the blend:

  • Peru (from £9.95): a Yellow Bourbon lot grown in Cajamarca at 2,250 metres by Norbil Perez, a founding member of the Aromas del Valle co-operative, with a 92-hour dual fermentation and slow drying on African raised beds; tasting notes of blackberry, pineapple and tropical fruit.
  • Colombia (from £9.95): from the San Agustín region of Huila, a small farm run by the Ortega family, with notes of fizzy cherries, pomegranate and candied orange peel.
  • Sumatra (from £6.95): sourced from Madheling, Sumatra, from Sitolu Bahal, with notes of treacle, clove, cocoa and red velvet.

Ground coffee can be ordered to a chosen grind type for filter, cafetière, Chemex, AeroPress and V60 dripper equipment. The company also sells a Discovery Trio bundle at £20.00 combining House Coffee, Sumatra and Colombia.

Tea, gifts and brewing equipment

Beyond coffee, the shop lists Loose-Leaf English Breakfast Tea at £10.15, described as full-bodied and robust with a four-to-five-minute brew time. Gift options include a Coffee Gift Box from £10.00 containing 250 g of House Coffee, a 70 g sample of Sumatra and a measuring scoop, and a Gift Card from £5.00 that arrives with a message card and gift envelope and can only be redeemed in store, not online.

The equipment selection covers manual and electric brewing tools: the Timemore French Press U at £24.95, the Timemore C3S Pro manual grinder at £75.00, the Pezzetti Italexpress Moka Pot at £16.95, the Bodum Bistro electric grinder at £27.15, the AeroPress at £35.20 and a pack of 350 AeroPress paper filters at £10.15, among other items.

Online ordering and store services

It also offers free click and collect to a store. The site includes sections for the company's stores, menu, wholesale, careers, blog, how-to guides and press releases, and a subscription option for recurring purchases.

Wholesale and multi-site operation

Coffee House runs both a retail shop network and a wholesale side of the business, supported by its in-house roasting, baking and food preparation in Warrington. The combination of own-roasted coffee, fresh food and a growing estate of high-street stores defines how the company presents its activity.
