About Van Furniture

Camper van furniture made in Thetford for self-build and trade conversions

Van Furniture is a camper van furniture manufacturer based at 1 Kelvin Place in Thetford, Norfolk. The company designs and makes its own range of furniture kits, which it ships across the UK and Europe and, according to its own account, sometimes further afield. It describes itself as a new start-up with big ideas that has grown into a small team.

The business was founded in summer 2019 by Adrian and Viki, after they identified what they saw as a lack of distinctive, good-quality furniture for the self-build camper and trade camper conversion market. The founding team brought together 25 years of experience in CNC machining, CAD CAM, joinery and online sales.

From one-off builds to a standard kit range

Van Furniture began by producing bespoke, one-off camper van furniture. In April 2020 the company decided to concentrate on developing its own products and stopped taking on bespoke projects. A move to a larger workshop in 2021 allowed it to open a showroom space and expand the team, and the company states that it was still developing new kits in 2024.

The current team combines joiners, CNC programmers, 3D designers and customer service representatives. New designs are developed in the company's own vans, and the intention stated on the site is to expand the product range on a monthly basis.

Product range

The catalogue centres on self-assembly furniture kits made from a range of materials and pitched at a range of vans and budgets. Named products and categories include:

  • Side kitchens
  • Worktops
  • Wardrobes
  • Ply kits
  • Roof linings
  • Storage solutions
  • T5 and T6 kitchen cabinets constructed in laminated ply
  • Sliding beds and U-shape bed systems

The company also offers fabric swatches, a section aimed at installers, and a blog alongside its shop.

Showroom and workshop

The move to larger premises in 2021 created room for a showroom, which the company presents as, in its own words, possibly the only showroom in the east of England displaying its cabinets, side kitchens, sliding beds and U-shape bed systems. Collections are made by appointment only and must be arranged in advance.

Lead times and ordering

The site sets out lead times that vary with workload and material availability. During busy periods it states that lead times may be extended by up to 5 working days, while a separate notice puts the possible extension at up to 10 working days and notes that supply of some materials, cushions in particular, has affected schedules. The company says it confirms when an order is ready and dispatches as soon as possible rather than giving an exact dispatch date at the time of order.

Enquiries are handled by email at sales@vanfurniture.co.uk. The company reports that some contact-form messages have failed to reach its inbox and asks customers who receive no reply to write directly. It also runs a call-back service for those who prefer a phone conversation, arranged by emailing a name, number and the matter to discuss.
