Powerpoint Stores, an independent electrical retailer in Telford

Powerpoint Stores Ltd is a family-founded electrical retailer operating two shops in the Telford area: a main store on Market Street in Oakengates and a second shop on New Street in Wellington. The company presents itself as a local alternative to larger chains, combining an online catalogue with in-store advice and a service operation that covers delivery, installation and repair.

The business was started in 1995 by Sterling and Avril Broad, a husband-and-wife team. According to the company's own account, Avril had worked for a large retail company and a major bank, while Sterling had experience with a small independent firm selling and repairing white goods. They set up on their own after both lost their jobs on the same day. The company later joined the Euronics buying group in 2004, a move it describes as giving it access to more manufacturers and greater buying power.

Product range across laundry, cooking and refrigeration

The catalogue is organised around the main household appliance categories, with both freestanding and built-in formats represented.

• Laundry: washing machines, washer dryers, tumble dryers (condenser, vented, heat pump and built-in models) and built-in dryers.
• Refrigeration: fridges, fridge freezers, American-style models, chest freezers, built-in and freestanding freezers, and coolers.
• Cooking: electric, gas and range cookers, electric, gas and induction hobs, microwaves (solo, combi and built-in), single and double ovens including built-under versions, and warming drawers.
• Dishwashers: full-size and slimline models in both freestanding and built-in configurations.
• Floorcare: upright, corded and cordless vacuums, handheld units, cylinder models, steam mops, carpet washers and cleaning solutions.
• Small appliances: air fryers, blenders, slow cookers, sandwich toasters, juicers, kettles and toasters, plus irons and heating and cooling products.
• Audio and television: soundbars, speakers, headphones and televisions, including a reconditioned section.

The site also lists cookware, hair care, shavers and other small domestic items among the goods carried. Products are grouped by brand as well as by category.

Repairs, delivery and appliance connection

Beyond retail, the company runs a repair service for large domestic appliances such as washing machines, dryers, electric cookers, dishwashers and built-in appliances. Small domestic appliances are handled at an in-house workshop located at the Oakengates store, which the company describes as housing both the showroom and the workshop. The business states that it employs full-time workshop and field engineers.

Delivery and connection of most appliances is carried out by the company's own team, and customers can ask for their old appliance to be removed for recycling. A click-and-collect option is also offered for orders collected from a local store.

Buying options and price policy

The site advertises a price-matching service, inviting customers to speak to the team if they find a better price elsewhere, and finance options for spreading the cost of a purchase. The company describes its pricing as competitive and frames its appeal around local service and advice from a knowledgeable team.

At the time of writing this profile, the deals section listed, among other items, a Hoover 10 kg 1400-spin washing machine at £269, a VAX Air Stretch Pet vacuum cleaner at £99.99, a Hisense WiFi-enabled 8 kg/5 kg washer dryer at £369 and a Shark SpeedStyle Pro FLEX hair dryer system at £199.99, with some lines marked as available from dates in late October 2026.

Two stores in the Telford area

The Oakengates shop, described as the main store, occupies 20-22 Market Street and combines the showroom with the repair workshop. The Wellington branch is at 52 New Street. Both are presented as places to see products in person and obtain advice from the local team, and both are listed as collection points for online orders.
